Universal Restaurants: Advice for a Newbie

I also recommend Cowfish. The kids menu had decent variety so both of your kids should be happy. We also like Margaritaville. Another restaurant just opened in Citywalk (NBC Grill I think?). We haven't eaten there yet but the menu looks huge and the reviews I've read so far have been positive. If we want something quick, we will sometimes go to the Moe's. Sometimes we split one of the platters in the Three Broomsticks. The only place we did not like was the Monsters Cafe in Universal. My son enjoyed the clips they were playing on the TV but we didn't think the food was good at all.

We aren't big theme park food lovers. For example, at Disney there are only a few restaurants I ever liked - CA Grille and Flying Fish, besides that I think others are just OK and most are pretty bad. That is one thing I like better at Universal - the food options are better. Our favorites so far are Emerils (lunch or dinner), Cowfish, The Palm and the Kitchen at Hard Rock and Bice at Portofino. Didn't like Margaritaville (just reminded me of a Rainforest cafe type place) and the worst ever was the NBA restaurant but that one is gone now.
