Hi all. Well I’m back from Universal and on my last day of captivity er, quarantine! Just a few thoughts/info about my experience.
Our dates were 11/27 - 12/9.
I flew with Alaska Airlines. IMO one of the best airlines around. 5 stars. On the way to Mco I had a row in premium economy to myself. On the return trip I was in 1st and seat next to me was open. I’m a mileage member so often get free upgrades. Alaska doesn’t pack you in. No one was sitting next to a stranger. Gate was very organized too. No crowding to board, it was all very orderly.
We stayed at Hard Rock. Because of close proximity to the parks we mostly walked. Only used boat one night coming back from City Walk. Hotel was great. I didn’t know what to expect with how they were doing things. I did get housekeeping once mid stay on day 5 or 6. And if we needed any extra supplies for room, all we had to do was send text and it was brought up.
Temp was taken daily when you leave hotel and wrist band given. At security they double check band.
Hand sanitizers at elevators, entrances, and multiple locations.
I found it easy to keep social distancing at the parks. With potential of bottlenecks in Diagon Alley we went first thing before crowds. Hogsmead was a little more difficult to avoid in afternoons because of Hagrids. Got to go when you can get an opening. We were able to use the App to reserve times, but if you didn’t start looking first thing to nail down return time you don’t ride. People said they sometimes release more times later but that wasn’t my experience.
People were pretty good about wearing masks at the parks with the exception of Hagrids queue. Maybe because it was a longer wait, but you were always moving. However 2 people near me felt they could either take off mask or have nose out, same as not wearing. I won’t rant, but I was pretty angry at their selfishness.
Otherwise the Parks did a great job. At every ride, or show they pumped sanitizer directly on your hand. No one shared your row on any ride. In shows you were told where to sit. They made a point in the shows of letting us know all the seats were sanitized in between shows.
Hand sanitizer stations everywhere. At end of attractions, lockers, restaurants, and saw staff cleaning lots.
Restaurants had tables distanced. It was good except for kids allowed to run around playing around other tables!
.
Great trip and felt quite safe. But this is my last trip until we don’t have to quarantine anymore.
Hopefully will be able to get vaccine by late spring/early summer and don’t have to quarantine otherwise our Aug trip is a no go.
