In the past Universal has occasionally done perks for timely renewals - like a month free, or I think once there was a pin? Anything going on this year? We have a renewal in three weeks, but we're not actually going for a while after, so I am not sure if I want to renew now or wait until I go. What are the prices for renewing a Preferred (Florida resident) before the end of 2012 anyway? I looked on the website and was having issues finding them.

I don't think the renewal prices are on the website. Metro posted them a few weeks ago though for the regular AP and it is about a $100 savings. Try going through the process of renewing online but don't check out and you should get the prices.

The renewal rate for the Preferred AP is about $170 plus change. I can't remember the exact total. There are no differences in renewal rates for FL residents...it's all the same now. You have a 30 day window to renew your AP before you lose the renewal rate so make sure you don't miss it. I don't renew mine until April so I'm a little worried about price increases this coming year but that's life I guess. :rolleyes1

Am I missing the place on the US site to renew Florida APs? I can see all the FL rates, but not for renewing the ones we already have.

I have the preferred AP which I renewed in June for $159 plus tax bringing it to $170 and change with tax.It seems like deals on passes will be fewer and farther in between. With the popularity of Potter, all the new attractions and hotels coming in Universal is not hurting for visitor. From the moment Potter came in the preferred AP automatically went up like $30 and then another $10.If I remember correctly the first time I got the Universal preferred pass was like 13-14 years ago and I got it with a Burger King promotion giving you a full extra year when you purchased one year.I think the non renewal price back then was like $130-$140.That was an
amazing deal we'll never see again,$140 for two years, and even for like almost a decade after that the renewal price was $99-$109 which just shot up after Potter a couple of years ago.

When I saw that the difference was something like $100 per person at current prices, I renewed.

A 4 day park to park for me (non-FL resident) is $172.54 at current prices. Pretty much the same as the renewal. So all I have to do is make sure I get a 4 day trip in (or a 3 day but buy and eat a lot so my AP discount makes up the difference, LOL) each year and it's worth it.

We bought our first APs while living out of state. It made it worth it for our 7-night stay at RPR. By the end of that year, they'd come out with a special "buy one year, get the second free",$99 renewal, so we planned another vacation around that. We actually ended up getting 3 vacations out of the two years of AP. We moved down to FL 3 yrs ago and picked up the AP again. It saves us a lot just in parking fees.
