What's the deal with lockers at Universal, are they situated in one area or are the scattered about the parks next to attractions where you might require them?
I don't fancy taking any camera equipment on something like Bilge Rat Barges as i know from experience you get completely drenched!
Also how much is the charge to use them? Thanks.

The free lockers are situated near the entrance to the attractions that prohibit carry on items: Dueling Dragons, Hulk, RoTM and MIB. The other lockers which you have to pay for are again...located near the entrance of the attractions. The water ride lockers are not free but charge a minimal fee for their use.

Metrowest is correct about the lockers.
One thing I do is to stop at any of the stores near a water ride and ask for a small merchandise bag. I then put my cellphone inside the plastic bag and tie a knot in the bag to seal it. Then I place my phone in my pocket and it is safe on the water rides.

You could do that for a camera also.

Here are the free lockers at Hulk, MIB and RoTM:

Also, take note that even though the water rides do have lockers near them, they are OPTIONAL. You are allowed to take bags on all the water rides with you. The REQUIRED lockers are Hulk, Dragons, Mummy and MIB.

I believe Rip Ride Rockit will be added to that list as well, as a required attraction.

Thanks for the info, i was hoping someone had pics.I never even noticed them last time i was there!

It wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I never noticed them either? And they must turn their head sometimes because I was there before a couple times and I rode those rides with a purse? Maybe they didnt see it?

Are they free for a certain amount of time or could we dump our stuff there and leave it there all day?!

there's a time limit. it tells you when you first start to rent the locker. the water rides charge $2.00 per hour at a maximum of $14.00. that's how the free lockers work too. if you surpass the free time, they start charging $2.00 an hour until you reach $14.00. the lockers at the front of each park are $8.00 for the small lockers and $10.00 for the large/family lockers. these lockers allow you in and out access all day.

be sure to remember the number of your locker.

i can't even to begin to tell you how many lockers i tried before i remembered my locker #........

::yes::
i read recently on somebody's tr, that they took their camera with them on each ride. they would take a picture of the locker before they went to ride so that they could remember. the guest just stuck their camera in their pocket while on the ride. they did the same thing when they parked. they took a picture of the closest marker to their car.

i don't have pockets in any of my shorts.

well, i guess i could stick the camera in my bra.

I've never been to Universal (and I'm not trying to hijack this thread) but how do the lockers work? They're by finger scan, right? So do you choose your locker and it scans your finger print or something? Then if you go over the time limit, how/where do you pay? I'm still a US/IOA newby so you'll have to walk me through this!

there are instructions that even as blonde as i am, could understand them.

there are screens set up in the locker sections.
you follow the instructions and they are very easy to understand.

when it says to do the finger imprint, you do that on the screen.

a locker number will show up on the screen.
that is the one you have been assigned.

it also gives information on locking the locker once you put your stuff in it.

if the lines for rides are long, and if you go over one hour, you won't be penalized.
the TMs that work that ride/locker area, are aware of that.
they will open the locker for you.

when you return to get your items out of the locker, you go back to the screen and push the correct info to open it.
you do a finger/thumb print again.

they are matched and when that happens, your locker will be unlocked.

and if you do something like i did, the TM will open your locker for you.

like, put your money in the locker...........and find out later you have to pay the $2 for it to open.......:lmao:

A friend and I went to the Studios last Friday and IOA on Saturday and used the lockers several times in each park.

A couple times, the finger scan did not work to open our lockers. Each time, the attendant opened it and then required us to show a picture ID from inside the locker to claim our stuff. We were glad they did that...and not sure what they would do if you did not have an ID in the locker! Maybe ask what was in it before they opened it...

And for the person who mentioned how important it was to remember the locker number, there is an option if you forget the number, to just do the finger scan, and it finds it for you and lets you know what number you had. Pretty cool system.

We noticed that the "free" time amount changed dependent on the wait time for the ride. It was VERY uncrowded when we were there, so most of the time they were free for 25 minutes, up to I think about 50 on Saturday for Hulk. We only went over the time once, on Dragons, because we decided to ride twice (gotta do fire AND ice, you know!). We just paid the $2 to open the locker...although MY money was all inside the locker, my friend had his wallet. Good strategy, methinks...

We had a great time!

How To Use The Lockers At Universal Orlando
(a guide by me)

This guide does not cover the lockers at the front of the parks. Those are all-day lockers and cost either $8 or $10. This guide covers the attraction-specific lockers.

There are two kinds of lockers, free and pay. Free are at Hulk, Dueling Dragons, Mummy, MiB, and will probably be at Hollywood Rockit. They're free while you ride, as they're Required. Pay lockers are at water rides (Popeye & Blutos, Ripsaw Falls, JP River Adventure). These are $2/hr, as they're optional. All lockers are one-time use. Once you open it, the computer will reassign the locker to the next person.

Using Free Lockers:
-Go to any computer screen in the locker area
-Touch the screen/select the language of your choice to begin
-Follow the onscreen instructions
-When instructed, press your finger/thumb GENTLY on the scanner (big flashing thing just below the screen)
-The computer will assign you a locker
-Put all your stuff in the locker
-Ride the ride
-Return to the same computer terminal you started with
-Input locker number. If you forgot that, there is an option where you scan your finger and your locker number will be displayed onscreen.
-Scan same finger/thumb
-Open locker, get stuff, move along. The locker will be reassigned.
-Contact nearest attractions TM if you need assistance

Using Pay Lockers
-Go to any computer screen in the locker area
-Touch the screen/select the language of your choice
-Pay $2
-Make up a 6 digit code
-The computer will assign you a locker
-Put all the stuff you want to keep dry in the locker (keep some $$ just-in-case)
-Ride the ride
-Return to same computer terminal
-Input locker number and 6 digit code
-Pay additional $ if instructed
-Open locker, take stuff, move along
-Contact nearest attractions TM if you need assistance
