What is the Bonus Pass?

Also, when does the 1year countdown begin on the Preferred Annual Pass, from the date of purchase or the date of first use?

The Bonus pass is only available online, and is good for 5 consecutive days. So, if you activate the pass on a Monday, the last valid day of the bonus pass would be 5 days later, or Friday.

Regular APs expire based upon the date of activation, not the date of purchase.

With the Preferred Annual Pass, is the parking at the hotel free or is it just for the parks?

Just the parks. Resort parking is $6 per day. I don't know what Valet parking is ($12?).
