My mom is thinking about going with me to Universal Orlando in 2015. The thing is she's 77. There are lot more thrill rides at UO/IOA than in WDW. One of the reasons I hadn't fully thought about UO for more than a day was the lack of Dark Rides like WDW. What am I missing that would be enjoyable for a senior citizen? I don't have to worry about mobility, since she would probably do a scooter. I know there are a good number of shows there. Which ones would you recommend most for someone that age?

After trying several times to come up with a useful answer for your question, I decided to just point out the general what’s up for the “Shows” and hope you find it helpful. I left out HP from both parks because the crowds in the HP areas could be too much to handle on a scooter, unless you plan to visit doing one of the few times crowds are low. Both HP areas do feature some street shows, but no theater shows. I guess the Wand Shop and some of the other shops should qualify as walk through attractions.

US - Shows & Walk through attractions:
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem - Movie Theater / May watch as show only from fixed seating or scooter

Shrek 4-D - Movie Theater - Shrek, Donkey and the rest of the gang star in “Shrek 1.5” (Warning: Bouncy/rocky Seating)

The Blues Brothers Show - Outdoor Street Show featuring “Jake and Elwood”

Beetlejuice’s Graveyard Revue - Outdoor Theater / Monsters singing rock 'n' roll

Disaster! - A move from room to room show ending with a shaky subway ride or just skip the ride

Fear Factor Live - Outdoor Theater / Watch some park guest eat yucky stuff & compete in physical challenges

Lucy A Tribute - Indoor walk through attraction about the Life and Career of Lucille Ball

Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show - Indoor Theater / Behind the Scenes of Make-Up & Effects (corny but very funny)

Universal’s Superstar Parade - Character Street Parade
Universal’s Cinematic Spectacular - 100 Years of Movie Memories Nighttime Show viewed from around the lake

IOA Shows & Walk through attractions:
Jurassic Park Discovery Center - Museum (kind of) Misc. Dino attractions & if lucky you’ll see a Dion egg hatch

The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad Stunt Show - Outdoor Covered Theater
Sindbad and his sidekick Kabob attempt to rescue the beautiful Princess Amoura from the evil witch Miseria

The Mystic Fountain - Outdoor plaza / Joke around with this fountain and you will likely get wet - Or just watch others get wet

Poseidon’s Fury - Move from room to room show / An archeologist leads you deeper and deeper into the mysterious temple (What could possibly go wrong – Think Fire & Water) You shouldn’t get wet but maybe damp

SEUSS LANDING – No shows unless you count watching the younger members of your group having fun

G'day

Just because someone is a senior citizen doesn't automatically preclude them from enjoying certain things (as long as they're generally healthy). My 82 year old dad went to Uni a couple of weeks ago and had a great time riding both Gringott's and Forbidden Journey.
