I have a 12 year old boy who has been begging to go to Universal Studios and a 15 year old daughter who really wants to go to Discovery Cove, which is pricey. I was thinking of my husband and son going to Universal on our last day and my daughter and I and my three year old going to Discovery Cove, not sure. Any way to get a discount on discovery cove? If my daughter does the dolphin swim alone can I see her?

Discounts for Discovery Cove seem to be hard to come by in 2013. Remember that the earlier you book for DC, the better your price should be as admission costs increase as availability decreases.

Also remember that part of the reason Discovery Cove is so expensive its that is an all-inclusive day (breakfast, lunch, snacks, drinks both alcoholic and non, parking, activities, etc....right down to sunscreen and shampoo.....are all included) and your tickets to DC also include 14 days of admission to both SeaWorld and Discovery Cove (to be used either before or after your DC day).

You do not need to book a dolphin swim in order for your daughter to take part in the swim (as long as her admission ticket includes the upcharge for the swim). You will be able to stand on the shore and watch her interaction with no problem. Here is a photo of the area where the dolphin swims are held, to give you an idea:
