We will be going to Universal on 11/13 & 11/14. I originally picked these dates and booked the trip with the idea that there would be low crowds this time of year. I was originally planning on doing IoA on 11/13 & Studios on 11/14, but with the Harry Potter thing now going on that weekend, is the concensus that IoA will be a madhouse on 11/13? Should I switch up my plans and go to Studios on the 13th & IoA on the 14th?

I think IOA will still be very busy on 11/14 but that would certainly be the best day for that weekend.

Thanks. Do you think it would be wise to purchase the express pass for those days?

Honestly, I don't really know.

considering the packages for the Harry Potter Celebration require an onsite stay, i'd expect everybody going to IOA for that event to be onsite, and therefore have Express. I'm not sure how large the non-express crowds will be at the park.

No, the package for the celebration was only for an off-site stay. Only a handful of people where able to book on-site stays until the glitch was figured out. BUT all people who booked a package have park access at 6am. Two hours before on-site guests and 3 hours before off-site guests can get it.

Totally stinks for all of us who booked that weekend expecting it to be nice and quiet with low crowds.

I would def do IOA on the 14th.

If it were me, I would wait until we arrived and see if we needed express. Remember express passes, for guests off-site, are only good for ONE ride on each attraction (ie, you can't get off and right back in the express line for another ride like on-site guests).
