Universal Meal Plan?

Just to say, you can purchase the souvenir cups without having to buy the Meal Deal - been told they cost 6.99 to 8.99 (depending whether you want basic or themed like spongebob) and can be brought back day after day (even year after year). Refills with these are around .65.

My son and a couple of friends are going down after graduation for a week. I have a couple of questions about the meal plan.

1. Do you have to be staying at a Universal hotel to get the plan?
2. It says if you buy the plan for both parks it includes dinner at select City Walk restaurants, which ones?

Just thinking this would be a nice gift to give the kids for graduation so they didn't have to "think" about meals and saving money out for them.

You do not have to stay in a Universal Hotel to use the plan. There are none of the city Walk restaurants on the plan. This would be a great idea for young men!

One warning, though... If the parks close early you could end up missing dinner, and then it isn't quite so good a deal. So I'd check the park times before buying it.

Also, there is a CityWalk Dinner Entree Add-on, for another 6 dollars on top of the Meal Deal price...

Oh but it does look interesting. Is there a 2 parc meal deal thingy too? Since I am planning to go with the VIP pass and to parc hop a little.

We are not big dessert people so that would just get lost on us and we tend to bring in water bottles for drinks so not necessary but would $20 not buy us two meals during the day at most places?

I think that would work fine. When I was at IOA on Sunday, I had my favorite lunch at Thunder Falls Terrace...Chicken Wrap w/ fries and a large drink. It was $10.89 with my AP discount. If you cut out the soda, it would have been closer to $8.00 plus tax.
