Universal loves to nickel and dime their guests don't they

RFID replacement fees...first will be free, second will be $50.

Yeah...when I read that a week or two ago I think I about lost my lunch! :scared1: that'd pay for one of them LeCell's 'Shroom Filets!-(barely). ;)

My son is known on a first name basis at WDW's Lost-&-Found department! We are so doomed. :scared:

Oh no! I think you may want to keep his bracelet on your wrist.

I predict a free micro-chipping offer down the road:rolleyes1

I could make a career out of second-guessing myself. I'm now thinking that if we leave early enough, we could potentially get to Orlando by 6 PM (pushing it). Should I scrap my money-saving strategy of booking a $50 hotel and instead pay $154 + $18 parking to stay on site an additional night? And perhaps we could get our APs and spend an hour or so in the park that first night (then wander City Walk as I'm sure we'll be keyed up from 11 hours in the car). Or should I do the $50 motel, grab a quick bite somewhere closeby, rest up, and be at Royal Pacific bright and early the next morning to check in? What would you do?

i'd skip the 'known' $50 hotel if you feel the $154 isn't a value.

do your research (start with betterbidding's hotel list for hotwire if you need two beds) & don't forget to check out lastminutetravel to see what options are out there. You can keep checking up until a day or two beforehand as long as you can cancel whatever other reservation you have, then pay the same $50 if not less for a 3 or 4 star hotel in the universal zone.;)

I don't think that it's fair to assume that all cheaper hotels are dirty. We've stayed at clean budget hotels and dirty luxury places. It's really all about management.

I will admit that there might be more trashy places on the lower priced part of the spectrum but we have stayed in plenty of nice La Quintas (we have points here) and Holiday Inn Express and so on.

We're arriving in Orlando on Sunday and on the way to our vacation home, my sister is going to drop me off at the drop off for Universal for me to acitvate my AP(mine is an AP and not a voucher). Will that then give me free parking for the next day? Seems like last time I had an AP, I was told that's why the first visit is not free.

Also, for the refillable cups, are they refillable for 99 cents for your whole stay? How much are they and do they clip on?

Yup, you're good! Just show you activated AP when you park. Technically, when you show up the Monday, that will be your second visit since you had to enter the park on Sunday to activate the AP.

The refillable cups are $8.99 and refills are $0.99 and that is for your whole life. Lol. They don't clip on and they are quite large.

If you have preferred ap you can get a discount on refills every where but the carts including the stand in the parking garage.

Quick question about AP discounts - is there an AP discount on the meal deal which is $24.99 per day? Still considering getting it for my daughter, but not sure yet.

I Dont know I'm sorry I'm sure someone here will know

Can some one tell me where Disney gives free drinks outside of your resort? I must have been hitting the wrong spots.

These are the only quick serivce that offer free refills.

Backlot Express - DHS
Electric Umbrella - Epcot
Be Our Guest - Magic Kingdom
Restaurantosaurus - Animal Kingdom

After a few trips of staying at the cheaper place the night before, we now see the value in just staying where you want to be. When you wake in the morning and don't have to go anywhere, don't have to repack or leave things with a new Bell Services, and you already have your room, that's worth quite a bit. To me, at least.

The price is there for everyone to see though......not hidden....so very clear choice for anyone to make whether to buy or not......you know the price.....

I always know what I`m paying for, nothing has been added I don`t know about and everything has been clearly priced.

Definitely true!

I don't have time to read the whole thread, but considering I'm paying at least a 100.00 dollars less a night for a Universal deluxe over a Disney Deluxe I'm ok with the 15.00 dollar a night parking fee. If you want soda just book club level. A club level room at Universal is less than a standard room at any Disney Deluxe resort. Let's not forget the restaurants at City Walk are more reasonably priced and you don't need ADR's. Most importantly a AP at Universal is about 1/3 the cost of Disney AP. I don't see anything to complain about.

There is no discount on the Meal Deal. I was told that the Deal is already a discount.

Cool. thanks. I don't think we'd get it anyway, I think we'd do better with getting a double cheeseburger meal and splitting it, as I don't eat bread or fries. A meat patty off my daughter's plate will do just fine, then I have room for a more extravagant dinner ;)

Be Our Guest is not quick service is it? I know Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland gives free refills.
