We went Nov 2005 and my two children and hubby enjoyed themselves but i was bored and couldn't wait to go back to the Disney Park.

This year 2007 Nov we go to Florida, this time with the in-laws and they wish you go to Universal but with us going as a family too.

But is it really worth going?

From what i gather NO NEW RIDES SINCE LAST TRIP.

2 Rides closed since last trip:
Back to Future (Forever)
Earthquake for refurb (One of my favs)

Can anyone convince me to go?

Donna

I guess if your family can't convince you, we certainly can't.

Did you go to both parks? What attractions did you see?

mmm.........now let me see. Is it just me or does anyone else think that this is just a poorly disguised "Disney is ace and Universal is cr@p" thread??? :)

"Convince me to go" threads always crack me up. If someone needs a bunch of relative strangers to convince them, they're probably not all that hep to go in the first place. So why look to strangers to convince you? So you can blame them if you go and think it sucks?

I never said Universal was Crap??? Where did i say that.

All i said was last time i went i was bored? and with the now shuting of two of the rides i did enjoy would i still be bored or have they added rides since 2005. If they haven't replaced any rides, Why not don't they want to encouage people to visit.

??????

We went to Universal only last time.

Rides we went on:
ET
Twister
Mummy (Loved it)
Back to the future
Jimmy ride
Shrek
Men in Black
Earth Quake

Jaws was shut (Will this be open)?

Oh and it rained 50% of the day.

Yes, it's a little crappy that BTF and Earthquake are gone
But come on, Universal and IOA have so many killer rides
I can't see how anyone would ever be bored there

We leave this Sat, and we are doing Disney for 5 days and then
finishing with Universal/IOA because we feel the rides blow Disney's
rides off the map

I would never do Universal 1st, then Disney

Would IOA Be better for us?

Me and hubby and 2 children who like fast, scarey rides and effects.

Grandparents who don't like the above but calmer rides?

Yes!!!! Without a doubt
IOA has The Hulk Coaster
Dueling Dragons near miss coaster
Spiderman
Dr Doom
Dudley Dooright Ripsaw Falls
Jurassic Park

Then, for the calmer, you can tail it over to Suess landing
IOA is my opinion, is the best theme park around

Sorry getting abit stressed out, We are taking in-laws and its making me stress more as they worry about small things which means i am in over panic mode. Just had a panic this evening over size of suitcases but that panic over. I will be glad when i am on the flight and the first stage is okay.

I too would recommend IOA for you vs. Universal. Hulk and Spiderman are not to be missed (DH would say Dueling Dragons too). If you were underwhelmed by Universal in general but loved Mummy, IOA may very well be more your taste. I am a Mummy fanatic and adore Hulk.

IOA Does sound better for us but mother-in-law wants to go to Universal just to pick up an item i got when i was there last time, the Pet Tornado. Maybe i suggest they go universal and we go IOA and meet up inbetween for dinner, lol.

Anyone know of any good ticket deals? Or do we buy at the gates?

Only if you can live with yourself after knowing that you would be skipping the best theme park in this Hemisphere, probably the entire world.:thumbsup2

I wonder if they would let her purchase it without going in. It's work it to ask at Guest Relations...maybe they could send it up.

If you've never been to IOA, you really have never been at all. IOA is by far the better of the 2 parks IMO. Its about a 70/30 love a lot, love a little less situation. IOA is the really to the max "themed" park with different islands and themes in each.

The main universal park you went to is really just kind of a studio lot with fake facades, where its all about the individual rides and attractions. Although I love the main Universal park, IOA is the clincher by far for me. To me its kind of like IOA is the equivalent (actually better) to the Magic Kingdom, and the main Universal park is sort of like the equivalent of Epcot/MGM, but wayyyyy better than MGM.

Also you really need to stay on site if you didn't before. Staying on site adds at least another 20% to the experience.

I think you should plan a visit to both parks. You missed some great shows at US - Terminator 3D and the Horror Make Up Show are our faves. There's lots of sidewalk entertainment to enjoy too. I think your in-laws would enjoy US. We're thrill ride junkies, but we really enjoy a relaxing day at US. And with the special deal Universal has on tickets, you can get 7 day tickets for $89.95:

Purchase the unlimited admission ticket for $85.99. You get it online here: http://www.universalorlando.com/tickets.php

This gives you unlimited admission to both parks for 7 consecutive days.

Then you can pick and choose which rides you want to ride in both parks.

They just increased the 7 day ticket to $89.95 - but that's still a great deal.
