Universal/IOA Thanksgiving

I am planning a trip for November and will be splitting time between Disney and Universal. What are the crowds like at Universal around Thanksgiving? We will be arriving the Saturday before Thanksgiving and leaving the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Would it be better to plan Universal for Thanksgiving weekend and avoiding Disney(heard crowds are pretty high) or should we hit Universal before Thanksgiving?

I am stuck in a hard spot because DS#1 will be celebrating his birthday the day after turkey day and I know he wants to do some Disney stuff, but if the crowds would be "better" at Universal, then I have to work on him!

No. We are staying at our Hilton timeshare on International Drive.

Here are the words you dont want to hear. The crowds are going to be bad no matter where you go thanksgiving weekend. You might as well just go and plan to have fun, without trying to stick to a schedule.
The time before Thanksgiving is going to be best for BOTH parks...and the days after will be bad at both parks. All that can be done to help, though you may want to check the other 100 topics on that subject and see what was said on those.
