Universal in October questions!

We will be staying at Marriott Harbour Lake for a week, October 16-23, and are planning on taking 2-3 days for both sides. What would be the ideal days of the week visit, what food places are especially family friendly and good eats, and even though we are not staying in the Universal hotels can we still shop and eat there?

Thanks! Its been since 2004 that we have done a Universal Orlando visit and then we only did two days with a day at the resort pool in between. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Since you are coming during HHN, remember the Studios closes at 5pm on those days. The dates during your visit are: 16th, 17th and 21st through 23rd. You will want to do the Studios either early on those days or avoid the park in the afternoons when the HHN crowds start to arrive. IOA is open until 7pm on those nights.

Food recommendations: IOA - Thunder Falls Terrace, Mythos and Comic Strip Cafe. At the Studios - Louie's, Finnegan's and Mel's Drive-In.

You can visit the hotels to shop and eat at your leisure.

OK, so the HHN event is only at Studios and not IOA? So we could start our day out at the Studios and then hop on over to IOA to avoid the HHN crowds??

Exactly and I imagine that's what many people do.

We are heading back down next Oct, 2011 and my boys are still a bit young for HHN, but we really want to do some of the rides in the dark
Ripsaw Falls, Jurassic Park.

We were down in 08 during the summer months, when the parks are open later

But the Florida summer storms prevented us from riding at nite
I swear it rained (hard!) every nite we were there~lol
