Universal in December

Hi, we are going to be in Disney in December and can do one day in Universal. We are big HP fans so the bulk of our time will be in the WWOHP. Is it typically best to go on a Thursday or Friday? Also, are express passes recommended that time of year. We aren't staying at an affiliate hotel so we won't be able to take advantage of the early morning hours, but will get there for opening.

Thursdays are typically better because it's still sorta the middle of the week. & Express passes are always recommended in the month of December! The later in December you go, the more crowded it will be.

You probably already know but, EP is not valid for Forbidden Journey, Gringotts and Hogwarts Express.

You can use EP for Flight of the Hippogriff and Dragon Challenge.

Express likely won't be needed in the first weeks of December, so it depends on when you are going in December. Thursday vs Friday likely won't make a difference if over Christmas break. I do know of more locals who go to theme parks on Fridays than Thursdays during the regular school year though.

I wouldn't start with express then. Since you are so limited by having just one day, you might decide to splurge for them - or you might not. They will not be sold out that week and you can buy them in the park if you feel it's needed.

Thank you! Yes that is why I was uncertain if I should get the EP.

Very much doubt you'll need them then if your focus is mainly Potter.......but if you felt you did want them they'll be available for you....

One other thing, make sure you're there about 20 minutes before opening.........they do let folks in slightly earlier on occasions........
