We were thinking of staying over night for one night to make use of the ultimate express pass, just wondering about turning up in the morning and seeing if they have a room available, what's the chance of a room being available? We go August 3rd for 2 weeks and intend to go towards the end of the first week!

I think you would be charged top dollar just turning up as you appear as a 'captive audience'. I'd book on line in advance.

You will be paying rack rate doing it that way so book online in advance. Or just check a comparison website on the day to see if its possible to do it cheaper.

HRH was full on our dates the week before but it gets quieter mid to late August.

August 3rd ... RPR will probably be booked solid if you just show up in the morning (unless you're lucky and they just had a cancellation) ... HRH will probably be sold out too

I agree with PP, come mid August you'd be safer, but early august is peak season.
Definitely book online, and remember that your unlimited express passes are good on your check in day AND on your check out day (granted that you have 2 days tickets)
So with your online reservation, show up as early as possible to get your express passes and you may even get to enter WWoHP early on the check in day.

We were thinking of doing the same thing but I thought to get the express pass you need to stay a min of 3 days? I'm hoping I'm wrong because we really want an express pass for Islands of Adventure to try and get as much done in two days as possible.

This wasn't the case when we stayed at HRH in 2011 for one night to take advantage of the EP. We're planning to do the same next year.

Do you have universal tickets? If you upgrade just 1 ticket to an annual pass you can get some great rates right now .... I've got a night in a deluxe room at the Portofino Bay Hotel for $209 plus taxes for 30th July ..... That's 5 express passes for two days with a nights accommodation in a fab hotel with a good sized room ... I call that value for money.

Just go on universal website and put APH in promo code field ..... No need to get your APH beforehand just show it at check in ..... Ps also gives you free parking (but not at hotel) and 10% discount on dining and merchandise
