Breaking news on CNN is Universal Studios Hollywood is burning. A huge fire. This is a larger tragedy than the loss of a theme park. Universal is the oldest Hollywood studio still making movies and TV shows. I'm sure this will be on your news soon.

Yes, just seen this on Fox News. The orange smoke is incredible:worried: Let's hope everyone is out and safe.

OMG! Its on BBC news here, awful :scared1:

Watching it on, fair and balanced, Fox News - that is a big fire. Not going to be good when they manage to put it out.

just read this thread, and now DH is serching the news channels. This is awful and so sad, I hope no one is hurt.:worried:

The fire looks toxic from the footage on BBC. How awful. No evacuations from the hotels yet.

I'm watching the live feed on the internet as we are booked on the VIP tour there in August. They have said the theme park will be open today, just not the studio tour. However it seems the film vault is on fire. They were also saying that the facades can be rebuilt easily and at least there are no injuries.

Same here! It looks pretty bad - I just hope everyone stays safe and that the film vault can be protected...

oh no thats awful

This is absolutley terrible, what a shame. So glad that more people were not hurt or even killed. So far only 3 firefighters have been taken to hospital,1 with heat exhaustion,+the other 2 with minor burns, this info was from the live conference from the Chief Firefighter.x.
Reports doing the rounds at the moment are----

A phone call was made 30mins before the huge explosion-a bomb threat(but the Chief Firefighter+president of Uni Studios has denied this+was'nt aware of any bomb threat).

A propane cylinder exploded.

I saw this on the news, I have studied film at uni and as you say it is the history of the place that would be a tragedy to lose rather than a theme park.

Very sad news. Fortunately, it was pretty well contained and the theme park was not impacted at all. The only effect was on the King Kong bit of the Backlot Tour. It's a huge relief that there were no injuries.

its a shock, saw the news earlier.
hope not too much is affected

Terrible news :worried:
