World's First-Ever Theme Park Guaranteed Rain Check

I hope you enjoy USH if you do go.
Of all the parks that i visited in CA. i was the most disappointed with USH. I wasnt expecting it to be as good as the parks in FLA. but was surprised how little was in the park. Also the set up isnt conducive to going back and forth between the upper and lower parts of the parks. Of all the parks i felt i got the least bang for my buck at that park!!!!(but its always great seeing T23D and my kids liked seeing spongebob so it wasnt all bad!!!).

I have been to Universal Hollywood before and your right in that it is very weird with that cliff side gaint escalator. I Wasn't going to go but at AAA where I bought the DL tickets they were Advertising the Spiderman Show. Dh has waited 20yrs for the Movie to be made. So,I bought AAA's 2 days for the price of one tickets. Knowing that when we get in at 11am, Jan,1,03 DL will probably be closed already. So,it made sense to go to Universal that day and maybe the 7th,too. Before we de-camp to go to San Diego for 3 and 1/2 days.

Just so you know the Spiderman show is a singing show. And in the park we found alot of photo op's with Spiderman/Green Goblin/Storm/Wolverine/Marilyn Monroe/Beetle Juice/Frankenstein/Sponge Bob etc.
We did have a good time but thought their would be more attractions. The day we went it was slow so lines werent a problem(other than a erratic show schedule) but with so few things to do i could see very long lines if busy. The day we went all of the VIP passes were sold out before the park opened.

What Are VIP passes and what do they do?? Should we get them??

VIP passes are extra price tickets that give you front of the line access to all the shows and some of the rides. I cant remember what the price for them are but im sure the Universal web site would tell you. As for if you need them, that i cant anwser as i have only been their once. But if the park is busy i could see where they would be very helpful as long as the cost isnt too much.

I dont know the answer but someone here must know!!!

I think I'm getting off the track of the original question, but wanted to stick in my 2 cents worth on USH.

It is not as good as it used to be, and it really pales in comparison with anything Disney. We were there in late November and the crowds were small. One of the big things I noticed is they have blaring music playing everywhere, like they are trying to copy Disneyland/DCA, but you can hardly talk over it, and it is not gentle or soothing at all (fast, rock and roll stuff). (Good for getting kids hyped up though!) The shows are scheduled so that you will only be able to catch about half of them if you plan right, fewer if you don't plan. The Wild West show was closed, and I think that was one of the best. The animal show was way too short and simple too.

The park is not that big, so you can cover it all in a day. The big escalator is pretty weird, but if you take the tram tour (a must do, and make sure you listen/watch the narration) they explain why the park/studio is built like this. If you have a stroller or a wheelchair, or elderly persons in your party that can't do the walk via the escalator, they have a little van/shuttle service that will take you from the top to the bottom, and you get to cut through the studio lot on the way even.

That rain check might come in handy, as we've been getting a lot of rain down here the past couple of weeks. More to come the next week or so.

We visited Universal in July, and as we left, my husband & I looked at each other and said, "they could learn a lot from Disney." We felt it was way too expensive for the few things they offered. The VIP tickets are even more expensive, and in my opinion, I definitely would not spend any more than the regular ticket price, which is already too much money for what they offer. After 4 hours, we were ready to leave and the best part was the time spent with my daughter getting her photo taken with the Rugrats!
