Hi,

I am coming to Orlando in October to take in the Halloween celebrations and am planning on going to one of the fright nights.
What park is it in? Islands or Studios?
Are both parks open in the evening?
There will be kids of 4, 12, 14 and 15 with us, is it too scary for them or just gruesome fun ?

Thanks for your help.

Halloween Horror Nights will be held at Universal Studios this year.

However it is the general concensus that children under the age of about 12 should NOT go to the event, it is very dark, noisy, and can be quite scary, even to adults.

Scare-actors go around weilding chainsaws, flame throwers and other devices, chasing people and making loud noises.

Thanks.

We came over from the UK in Feb 2005 and really enjoyed both parks, Busch gardens and all the disney parks. Typhoon Lagoon was closed though.
The plan this time is to send the kids and one adult into the park that the horror nights isn't happening in (islands) and the rest of us go in studios for a scare ! is this do-able
Is City Walk full of 'freaks' too? Also should we book tickets in advance or wait til we get over there? We won't be trying for October 31st as I guess the park will be rammed full that day !

Barrage of questions over for now !!

Thanks.

Citywalk has no freaks (besides the usual party-going types ;) )

Often the parks both "close" at 5 or 6 PM, then the park that has HHN will reopen for 7PM-12AM or 7PM-2AM on Fri, Sat nights. So unfortunately I dont think that plan will work for you due to the one park being closed at that time of night.

Its always a good idea to buy tickets in advance as many nights do sell out ahead of time, especially weekends.

Thanks.

Like the ^^ poster said. Universal will close around 5 and Islands around 6 - are you staying onsite? If so, have the one adult and younger kids go back and do pool time at the hotel......may even be a dive in movie night which would be cool for the kids.

Hope that helps!

I would say it is definitely too scary for young children!!

I do not exagerate when I say that I went a few years ago with my DH, and I lasted in the park for 3/4hr!!! By that time I was jumping whenever ANYONE at all came near me and I made my DH's arm bright red where I held him so tightly!!!:scared1:

Having said that I would like to experience it again sometime! - I just don't think I was prepared for how scary it really was!! (I'd have coped if it was just at specific areas that you got scared - but I really freaked:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: when people came out of nowhere with chainsaws and zombies covered in blood walked straight for me!!! - I felt like nowhere was I safe to relax and calm down!!!)

All good fun I'm sure if you aren't such a baby as I am!!:lmao: (Plus there were alot of big groups of people - which I reckon would be great fun - I just felt that with just the 2 of us it wasn't the same!!)

:scared1:  :scared1:  :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

this year will be my 7th in a row for hhn.

don't take the 4 and 12 year old. it is too adult themed.
you have a bar stand before and after each house.

the gals dressed for the eye candy, are all over with the jello shots for sale.

it's basically a pg evening.

there are no refunds once tickets are purchased.

hhn will be in the studios and close to the public at 5, IOA will close at 6.
it is possible that ios could be open for a limited time for the coasters like they were last year. there is an additional charge for that though. last year it was open for a few hours due to the crowds at the studios for hhn.

pull up the hhn youtube videos if you want to see if your 14 year olds can deal with what happens in the park for hhn.

We are over for 2 weeks from the 23rd October and doing every park we can in the 2 weeks. If Seaworld does a halloween theme, we will be there !

Booked the Horror night tickets for just the adults today and also booked Magic Kingdom halloween tickets.

Can't wait.

In the UK we went to Thorpe Park which did a Horror night with 'houses' to walk round, the kids freaked out after the first house and refused to go in any more. If the US is true to form and does everything bigger and better then it's going to be awesome !

honestly I cant recall if Sea World has a halloween thing they do...but Busch Gardens in Tampa has Howl-O-Scream...its supposed to be almost as nice as HHN but I've never been to it.

I think I'm going to have to take out a second mortgage with all these theme nights to go to !!

Halloween passes the UK by without any real celebrations. Trick or Treating doesn't really happen and only odd decorations are put up in windows. I can't wait to see the whole spectacular in the US.

You won't be disappointed!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

You have to let us know what you think once you get back!

Oh don't worry, if it's as good as everyone says, I'll be going on about it for months !
