Universal Gift Cards

Are there Univeral Gift Cards available? Do they sell them. I've been looking on site and can't find any. Would like to give some as gifts this year.

Yes, they're available. They sell them at our local grocery stores, Walgreens, and CVS Pharmacy locations here in Florida. Not sure if they would in your local ones.

The one thing you need to know about the gift cards is....you will need to exchange them for Universal bucks at Guest Services. You can't go into a store and purchase something with it like a regular gift card. I would suggest giving Visa or AMEX gift cards instead. Those work like a credit card so there will be no problems.

Does anybody know if you can use these giftcards to pay your hotel? We always do this with our Disney GC when we stay with the mouse & didn't know if this was possible?

No, they can't be used to pay your hotel. The only thing they can be used for is to buy tickets. Otherwise, you need to exchange them for Universal bucks at guest services. The Universal bucks can then be used almost everywhere in the parks and at Citywalk. I don't think the bucks can be used at the hotels but I might be wrong.

Help!!! I called Universal and was told to go to CVS and/or Publix to purchase gift cards. We went and the gifts cards say that they are only good for passes. I called Universal back and was told "Yep, Only for passes." and if I wanted to get a gift card for merchandise we would have to get them at guest relations at the front gate, that is the only place that they are sold.

So has anyone purchased a gift card that is for passes and was able to exchange the money for Universal dollars??? When I called Universal, they said no.

Universal gift cards have to be traded for Universal bucks except when using them to upgrade or purchase tickets. If you have the gift cards, you will need to take them to Guest Services to exchange them for Universal bucks so you can use the bucks in the stores. There is not a separate gift card for passes...it's all the same. If you don't exchange them, they will not be accepted at the stores for payment. Does that make sense?
