I have heard that if you stay at the Universal Hotel, you can get front of line passes throughout the park. How does this work? We would probably only spend one day at Universal - we are not thrill ride junkies, so we would go to Disney for the rest of our time there.
Can we spend the night at the hotel and use the passes the next day even though we have already checked out? And is it good for all the rides? We will want to see Harry Potter and Spiderman, and a few other rides which we will choose as we get closer. We'll probably leave our suitcases at the hotel and then pick them up that evening and take a taxi over to WDW.

You can use your FOTL the day you check in and the day you check out. The advantage of the FOTL over EP is you can use it at each attraction/show as often as you like.:thumbsup2

Your room key acts as your FOTL pass, just show it at the express entrances, and its good for the day you checkin and the day you checkout till park closes. You will have to buy park tickets, as the room key is for FOTL only, not for park entrance

Express works at all attractions except P-Flyers and Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.
