yes, i know it's not officially Disney, but close enuf.

What would be good at Universal for girls -- ages 7 & 10??? (who aren't real brave).... :cheer2:

I think Universal has kind of put itself between a rock and a hard place on the not-so-brave little girl market.

At Universal Studios, there's a kid section, featuring a REALLY neat E.T. ride (worth it for adults without kids too!) and a Woody Woodpecker coaster. There may be some other fun stuff for kids, but I think those are the big rides in that area.

At Islands of Adventure, there's Seuss Landing, which is great! It has One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish (think Dumbo with water and a Seuss theme), the Caro-seuss-el, and The Cat in the Hat.

All fantastic rides, but everything else really has some sort of scare factor.

If you wait until they're older, they may not be interested in that stuff, but if you take them now, it's sort of a wasted admission for those few rides.

Take a look at www.usoinfo.com. I'll also move this over to the Universal board where you can get some better advice from more seasoned veterans. :)

Depends on how "brave" the girls are! We took our (then) 6 year old to Universal and she was scared of "Jaws", "King Kong", "Terminator", "Back to the Future" as they made loud noises. The only thing we went on as a "family" was "ET" and something at the Nickelodean section- some Flintstones ride? Now that she is 14 she is still not eager to go back, or go to Islands of Adventure. Depends on each individual child I guess. We thought it was a BIG waste of money for us!

We visited Universal Studios last month with our two daughters, ages 10 and 8. They absolutely loved the Jimmy Neutron ride (we went on it 4 times!), and also enjoyed the Shrek 4-D show, Men in Black (which wasn't really scary at all), Back to the Future, E.T., the Woody Woodpecker rollercoaster (a very short ride), and the Beetlejuice Rock and Roll Revue.

We easily spent a full day there and everyone had a wonderful time...

A lot changes in 8 years. There's plenty for kids to do at Universal.

Hi

I took my 7 and 9 year old to Universal last year and they loved it and they don't like the scary rides either. The water feature curious george (American series) was fabulous. They thoroughly enjoyed it. We took a change of clothes and towells. ET, Woody woodpecker and meeting shaggy and scooby all kept them busy as did Shrek, Jaws, Men in Black and Back to the future. They aren't that scary. My two girls don't like the big drops on rides but otherwise are ok with dark and monsters etc... Only you know how your kids are with rides.

We also enjoyed the animal show at Universal.

Before I went to Florida for the first time in October last year I wasn't sure if would take my girls to either Universal or IOA but we did both and a great time was had by all.

cheers

welshlady
