Universal for a week?

My family could spend a whole day alternating between a bunch of rides on Men in Black, then throw in the Mummy for a few and and then back Men in Black. My son can max out on two guns in one ride now in MIB. It's like playing video games all day. I think once we did it 11 times in a row before riding something else. Competition is big in our family, lol.

Sounds just like us! The boys and I can't wait for a full afternoon of MiB competition! It's like your own private, immersive, 100 million dollar video game :thumbsup2

Heading down on the 19th for 6 nights, 7 full days (get the extra full day since we're driving over from Sarasota Springs early the 1st morning).

The boys are also old enough now that DW and I can relax for an afternoon in DA over a beverage while the boys hit all of the interactive wand spots.

Add in some resort hopping, pool hopping, a little shopping, and an afternoon/evening at the great mini-golf course complex and a week all of a sudden doesn't seem like quite enough....

Yup, we've done it for a week. It's wonderful. It's actually a vacation!!!!

We've always done 10 to 12 day trips packed with Disney parks and then 2 or 3 days at Universal. It's fun but exhausting. After vacationing like this for a decade we took a trip in December where we spent two nights at RPR and then a week offsite. We had five day Disney tickets and only went four days. It opened our eyes.. we are kind of tired of Disney and we need a break.

I've never once left RPR without wishing we had more time. So we just booked a surprise trip for March Break. Cabana Bay is what is in the budget. We plan to maybe do one night at RPR for 2 days of Front of the Line.
Ideally with this plan that would be two full days of the parks, and four other days for lounging by the pools, having nice dinners and maybe dropping in to the parks. I can not tell you how excited I am for an Orlando vacation where we have more down time. I am really looking forward to a full week at Universal !

MiB might have contributed to the problem. While I'm not anywhere near as good as your son, I beat both my DH and my DS each time we rode it. They kept saying they would beat me on the next ride and they never did. They just continued to get more and more upset about a "girl" beating them until they just didn't want to ride it anymore.

I notice a lot of people trying to cram both parks in within 1 day or 2 max. Does anyone ever go to Universal for a whole week? Is there enough to do or would it get old? I haven't been since around 2001 and I know it has changed a lot. We plan to go for 4 days during spring break.....maybe more.

I could enjoy myself at either Disney or Universal for a week but because a week (or 9 days) is how long I'm down there I go to both. I went to Universal 3 days this time and Disney 6 days. But yes I could most definitely enjoy a week there. It would make me feel less pressured to get everything in on the day or two that I normally go. If I wanted to spend a little more time in the pool one day and didn't get on a few rides? No big deal I could go on them tomorrow.

It's a good idea to actually study up a bit before you go. It just adds to the enjoyment of the ride.

Read all the responses and I've come to the realization that we did something wrong on our recent trip, that or I need new traveling companions. :confused3

We checked in to the RPR on Saturday, November 29 and our first park day was Sunday, November 30 with our last day being Tuesday, December 2. We went for Early Entry each day. DH and DS had 3-day Park-to-Park Passes and I had an AP. I thought at some point during the trip I would upgrade their tickets to AP and we could go back in 2015.

Sometime after lunch on Sunday, our first park day, DS15 started complaining that he was bored and wondered if we had to stay through Tuesday. DH said he felt that he had done everything in each park that he was interested in and didn't care to repeat anything. DS agreed. I think I wanted to cry.

We have a pool at home so pool time isn't of any interest to us but I think I could still easily enjoy a 4 day trip. Just not with my family. :thumbsup2

That is the thing. If I am not going with people who like Disney or Universal I am going alone. I'm not spending all that money to hear "can we go now?" nothing against DS15 or DS, we all have our owns tastes and preferences but I can understand your feeling.
