Taking our first adults only trip to Universal. Been multiple times with the kids, but never without them. Looking for suggestions on things to do to make it seem like an adult trip. I love the parks and the rides but my husband less so. We'll be there for 3 days, Dec 7-10. Looking for suggestions for dining, activities, great drinks, bars, etc. We're in our mid-forties. We'll probably do one day in the parks and possibly one day at VB if it's warm enough, otherwise 2 days in the parks. We are staying at Cabana Bay on a great employee rate (brother works at Universal) but are considering maybe booking one night at Sapphire Falls for a bit more of an adult feel.

Sapphire Falls is a lovely hotel.........and I can personally recommend Strong Water Tavern........fabulous rum bar with a great atmosphere......we always spend a few evenings there during our trip :D

The Palm at HRH is for us, the best onsite restaurant there is........

We like Margaritaville for cocktails, not so great for food anymore although burgers and nachos are still decent.

Citywalk is decent at night........good atmosphere.

There is a sticky with all restaurant menus from parks, hotels and Citywalk.........give you a good starting point for what type of places you’ll like.........

In addition to the great suggestions above, you might want to consider the Luau at Royal Pacific. They have them every Saturday night and you are there over the weekend. We are arriving at RPR on Dec. 10th for 10 days and are doing the Luau on the 16th.

I thought The Kitchen was the fancier place at HRH?

They have the Magicians on Friday nights, correct?

You can go for drinks at Portofino Bay and sit overlooking the lagoon. There are great cocktails and they have an outdoor opera performance in the evenings.

We generally go to Universal as a couple. The fancier place at HRH is the Palm with business casual dress code and all. We love the nicer restaurants at each hotel (Going to miss Tchoup Chop at Royal Pacific). We usually stay at Portofino but have stayed at the three premier hotels. For an adult vibe, sip some wine in the piazza at the Thirsty Fish at Portofino at sunset and listen to the opera/popera singers. Enjoy some seriously good eats at the Palm at HRH or Bice at Portofino. Check out City Walk for nightlife and some great dining options. Check the menus in the "stickies". You can bowl at Cabana Bay, enjoy the bar at Sapphire Falls (as Schumi mentioned), bus to City walk and use the boats to resort hop, all kinds of adult friendly things. In the parks, enjoy the freedom to pursue your own agenda. Check out the holiday entertainment and be as "grownup" as you want to be.

I truly love our grownup trips and go for a lot longer than 3 nights. Keep asking away...

Moving over to Saffire for only one night seems like a hassle (IMHO). You can certainly visit over there as well as other resort hopping ideas as other PP's suggested. At CB, we liked bowling and there are bars poolside to just hang out along with at least two fire pits.

We stayed for a week (or more) so this might not fit your schedule. You can drive over to WDW in the evening to the TTC parking lot. Then take the ferry right to the front door of MK (and back again). Kind of a romantic boat ride that takes about 40 minutes. Then watch the castle fireworks show from the dock back at TTC (they pipe in the sound for the watching crowd).

The Palm is definitely the signature restaurant at the HRH.........as for Magicians.......have no idea, although we’ve never been there on a Friday night, always a Saturday and Sunday.........

We did try The Kitchen once.......not overly impressed. Palm is so much better.........imo of course.......:D
