How does it work? I never stayed onsite so never had a chance to use it. We are planning our Orlando visit this December (12/12 ~ 12/23) and trying to see when to fit UO in. With the express pass, can we do all the highlights without much of waiting even on 12/22? If so, we may consider staying at their hotel this time.

Your Express Pass is your room key...just show it when you enter the Express line entrance and enjoy! You may go through the Express lines as often as you like and there's no return time like FastPass. You can ride whenever you'd like. With the EP you will have minimal waits and on the dates you've indicated, the waits will be under 15 minutes...probably under 10 minutes.

Thanks!!!
Is there a list of rides/attractions that have express lines?

If you click on the individual rides on the UO website it does tell if the ride participates in express plus. It also gives details & height requirement for the attraction.

The rides that don't have express are Forbidden Journey, Rip Ride Rockit and Pteranodon Flyers.

Do they give this pass to everyone staying in the room? And do you have to buy a particular type of park pass to use this?

Thanks.

it's a hotel perk for the guests staying onsite.
as of now, you show your hotel key when entering the express lines.
in the near future, you will have a photo id made at the hotel/park to reflect you are a hotel guest.

one hour of early entry for parry hotter ville and unlimited usage for the express lines for rides and shows.

the park pass is not related to the hotel perks.

of course you need a ticket to enter the parks.
you can buy UO tickets directly from UO or other sources.

Up to five people can stay in a room and all get the express perk. You just need a regular park pass.

If you are a Disney person and used to playing the Fastpass game, this is, roughly, 100,000 times better. Its an unlimited fastpass for (almost) every ride. You can ride your favorites over and over and over and, well, you get the point. My daughter and I rode The Mummy 17 times in one day.

That's awesome!!!:thumbsup2

Wow! 17 times my head would be pounding. I think I rode like 5-6 times in one day and thought that was a lot! Great ride. :thumbsup2 Front row.

We did the Incredible Hulk 6 times in a row... after previously having ridden it 3 times earlier that day. (nothing like 17 times, but we were impressed...)

Universal Express pass is fantastic! I sooooo wish Disney would do something like this! If the new X-Pass system is anything close, I am really looking forward to it!

I could not agree more. Disney's Fastpass is a pain in the well fastpASS. I just returned from an onsite stay and it was FABULOUS.

They really need to get with the program in terms of bringing back the perks and magic for onsite guests. I cannot believe I am even saying that but I am. I will forever be comparing the amazing experience of the Express pass to the Fastpass and it's not a good comparison. I could go on forever about what was better about the first. My first thing is not the # of times we could ride something but the WAY we could tour the parks!! It was AMAZING not to have to zigzag through people with strollers and little ones and a big family like mine...I loved the access but most of all, I love the stress free environment this allowed!! We could just "go" where we wanted and go at a leisurely pace at that!! No early mornings, no seriously late nights....just easy breezy touring.:cool1:

This is why we have AP's for Universal and not Disney. When we go on vacation I want it to be a vacation. Staying onsite is the only way for us. :thumbsup2

For the hotel cards/Express passes, are they the hard plastic credit card size "keys"?

Does Universal provide any sort of lanyard for them to make them easier to use in the parks or should I look into bringing some lanyards from home? Can they punch holes in them?

Thanks

Right now your room key (plastic) is your express pass. Eventually they will be issuing photo IDs for the express pass and it will be separate from your room key.
No...they do not provide lanyards so bring your own. They will punch a hole in your room key if you want to put it on a lanyard.

you will see many kids using the lanyards at the darkside with their hotel key hanging from it.

keeps them from losing it.

yes, the front desk will do that for their guests.
i think besides having pens at the counter for the TM's, they also have the hole punchers...........
