Universal dollars and gift cards help

I live in Ohio and out here we have a grocery store called Giant Eagle, they have a gasoline promotion were every dollar you spend adds up to saving on gas, well with the price of gas creeping up again, when I was shopping the other day I noticed Universal gift cards for sale in 25 dollar increments. On the back it states redeem this card at the universal ticket booths for universal bucks. I wanted to pay for all my food and gifts and even my hotel if I could , that way I would save alot on gas and would not have to carry so much cash when I go to universal next week. Finally my question:


Can I use these to pay for my hotel and use them at all food venues in the park and city walk, I already have tickets so that is done.

Has anyone every used Universal gift cards or Universal bucks to pay for things.

If I call Universal info line they tell me no on the hotel yes on food, if I call hotel they tell me Do not know about food and Maybe on hotel. Well I bought 1,000 worth so I need some help, cuz I can not eat 1000 bucks worth of food in 5 days thanks

I used to buy them for the kids that way they didnt have to carry cash around.When you redeem them you get what looks like monopoly money.Good to buy anything at US.
As far as paying for the room I would call geust service to find out.

i haven't used the universal money in quite a few years.

when i did, and i had left over funny money, i would go to guest services and redeem those universal bucks for cash.


i don't know if universal still does that exchange but i don't see why not.

guest services could answer that for you.


if they still do, cash in the universal money and get cash.
use that cash to pay your hotel bill then.

universal and the on site hotels are two different things.
i doubt they would accept the uo money.

I do not usually shop there but sometimes will get gift cards for the gas perk. I have not seen the US cards. So you can use them for restaurants only in the Parks? What about on City Walk restaurants?

You can't use the giftcards at all for purchases except for tickets. You have to exchange the gift cards at Guest Services for Universal dollars. These "dollars" can be used almost everywhere in the parks and citywalk. You will get change back (with real money) when you purchase something. If you have any Universal dollars left at the end of the day, you can exchange them for real money at guest services.

We are here now..they are not good towards the hotel, or the restaurants in the hotels, or at City Walk restaurants. They all told me they are not "linked" with Universal....whatever.

But just do what I'm going to do-----change them back in for cash and use that money to pay for those things. It's a total pain, but we saved money on our gas, right?

But...never again for me. Not worth all the hassle.

Sounds like you will not have an easy time using these. I'd suggest that you call Universal as ribbot did (see post #11) to get a list of locations that should accept either the gift cards or Universal Dollars. Get them to send the list to you by email and then take it with you when you go. If you get a "no" at one of the locations just show them the email and ask if they'd send get the manager to help you with the misunderstanding. Being prepared has got to make the experience less frustrating. Just my two cents.

Remember that the other poster attempted to use the gift card at these places and not the universal dollars. So make sure that you redeem them for universal dollars before attempting to use them.

Also save the receipts just in case the grocery store does not activate them by mistake.
