Universal/Disney Trip - Presidents week 2020

Hey everyone,

I am planning a trip to Disney/Universal Presidents week next year. I know not the ideal time, but this is what we need to do. In the past I have done Disney/Universal trips, but have never gone at such a busy time. I usually do Disney then Universal. I asked on the Disney board and they said I might be doing Universal 1st over President's weekend since I am planning on staying at the Royal Pacific and will have the express passes. Are the parks open late this weekend? Do you agree it would be better to do Universal 1st during this busy week?

We would fly into Orlando on a Friday night - so check in to RP and have the full day in Universal Saturday, Sunday, Monday then Monday night go stay in Disney.

Oh most important questions - should I book directly through Universal for tickets and hotel? Costco? any other recommendations to save a few bucks!

It will be my husband, myself and our 17 year old son.

I do not believe they release hours that much in advance. However, if Universal does later hours it would be during the weekend, however it typically isn't as late as MK can be. I believe the latest I've seen Universal be is 10pm (not including HHN) and even then I'm not sure if Universal would go to at their max of 10pm for Presidents weekend.

So, it makes more sense to do Universal, then Disney, as at least with Disney, while you might be getting there President's Day, at least going to be there during the weekdays after that Monday, which would be slower than if you did Disney on the weekend.

As for tips on how to save money, someone else will have to answer that one. As I typically have an AP if I'm there and if I'm staying on property I'm using my discount.

Your plan sounds good. We always do Disney then universal, universal being much more relaxing we like to finish up there. We made the mistake of doing that over Presidents’ Day weekend this past year. It was a complete mad house at Disney that weekend, worse than Christmas weeks we have done. With express pass you should be fine at universal.

We did Disney Friday through Monday. It was crazy busy the whole weekend. We stayed at yacht club and loved it! We transferred over to PB on Monday. We stayed through the following Saturday. Monday was busy but manageable. The rest of the week was great.
If we go next year we will do PB for the Presidents’ Day weekend and head over to Disney the following Tuesday.
