Was just informed the Universal Orlando has suspended new sales of their dining plans starting today. This is the info I was provided:

Universal Orlando has suspended the sale as of today of any Table Service Dining Plans and Quick Service Dining Plans. Guests who have dining plans currently in a package that is on courtesy hold or with a deposit, or final payment the guest will be able to use their dining plans at our Dining Plan Locations as previously advertised. Guests who have Quick Service Dining Plan Cards with remaining entitlements will be able to use their entitlements as previously offered.

If a guest has already purchased a Universal Dining Plan product they will continue to honor this product for guests who have already purchased it prior to the discontinuation.

when asked if sales will resume on the Universal Dining Plan product and when, was told the Universal Dining Plan is no longer available for purchase. Stay tuned to website for updates. They will not be proactively notifying guests, instead all mention of the product will be removed from external communications.

Universal Dining Plan products will remain active with the reservations department for package modification purposes only.

Should a guest wish to modify their 2021 booking to 2022, Universal Dining Plan products must be removed from the guest's reservation

Does not impact non-Universal Dining Plan food and beverage products sold through UPRV such as the Leaky Cauldron or the Three Broomsticks Breakfast.

Made this a temporary sticky until we get more info about it

first I heard of this happening

Maybe there will be a new dining program to replace this present one?

That's what I'm hoping, this came directly from a district sales manager.

Universal had no ability to have the dining plan be mobile order, and that was a big reason lines became messed up...it could be they are going to simple and fast, b/c I know their cashiers struggled with helping folks with dining plans and getting them to order in any kinda rapid way...

We were denied the opportunity to eat at Three Broomsticks last week. They said they were only serving those with dining vouchers. Couldn't even get in a line. If they can't serve all their customers, I think ending the dining plan is the way to go.

If you clicked on my post a few peeps up from here, you will see no more of the dining plans will be sold

Only those that prepurchased them will be honored

Dining plans and other deals are usually offered to entice people to utilize the service. Right now there is no need for "deals" as the parks are crazy busy and the QS places are experiencing long waits. Combined with the staff shortages and intermittent shortages of food items related to supply line issues, I'm thinking that UO decided they were better off ditching the dining plans.
I'm sure over the past month, they've heard lots of complaints related to the issues of inability to procure reservations, long lines, mobile ordering hang ups, and the difficulty using the QS dining plan. Food services has enough to deal with right now with regular paying customers, much less those on the dining plans.
I think the goal here is just to get back to a semblance of "normal", with increasing staff in order to be able to open up more tables in restaurants and lines at QS venues to handle all the customers.
