Universal CityWalk Makes Play For PI Regulars

It's not that we want it gone--it's what we might get in it's place that we WILL like that makes it look like a good move.
As when they replaced Horizons, World of Motion, etc. That made me VERY angry. But it pleased all kinds of people that Test Track and Mission Space were added.
So that's sort of how things go, I suppose.

Uh, I doubt Walt would have approved of the concept of PI to begin with.......It isn't something the family could do together, and as I recall from the old news footage, his whole idea for his parks were supposed to be places where families could spend time together.

Walt included golf courses and "Top of the World"* in his plans; he understood the need for "adults-only" areas at a resort, just as he understood the need for rides like Dumbo that no one over 4 would want to ride.

Even had he not thought of it, the success of Church St. Station was a wake-up call to WDW that there was a need to be met.

I see your point IF the AC is replaced with something inovative, unique and Disney-esque.
A t-shirt shop just doesn't fit that description :sad2:

I don't understand... Why do you need it "gone" in order to get something you may like better? I mean, there is still some land left to build at WDW.. right??

I could actually get behind this kind of thinking if they were replacing unique and amazing guest experiences with new guest experiences of the same high caliber. That's not the case, however. They've already told us that they're replacing "Magical" guest expereinces with "shopping and dining".

I'm sorry, replacing the Adventurers Club with mediocre dining isn't the same as replacing Mr. Toad with Winnie the Pooh.

Vacationers and locals can get crappy dining everywhere they look. They can only get the experience of the Adventurers Club in one place. And they're closing it.

rpmdf: In my case they replaced unique and amazing guest experiences with a couple of thrill rides...you guys think the Adventurers Club is something very special. The one time I went, I thought it was silly. But the same for my rides--I felt Horizons and World of Motion were very special, but many people thought they were dinosaurs and old fashioned. And it appears, so did Disney.

Maistre: Heck, I don't need it gone. I never went anyway. Removing it is a Disney decision that I had nothing to do with. Clearly they could "relocate" PI, or build those new restaurants etc elsewhere. I could easily try the new restaurants and avoid PI as I do now.
But they decided to do it this way.

But at least in the case of Horizons and World of Motion, the replaced a guest experience with another guest expereince. It's not like they tore them down to build another Rainforest Cafe knock-off. That's what's happening to the Adventuers Club.

Yeah, I understand that Disney decided to do it this way. I as a passholder, DVC member, and stockholder, think that it's a poor decision and am letting them know.

Today's Orlando Sentinel has another sticker advertisement from CityWalk with a complimentary CityWalk Party Pass. The "post-it note" type ad is stuck to the front cover of the Calendar section of the paper.
