My husband & I are debating on going down 12/24 to 12/27 or 12/25 to 12/28 and staying on-site for FOTL access.

How bad is Christmas at Universal in comparision to the Disney crowds? Its been about 6 years since I've stayed on-site at Universal so I'm feel less informed about it and we never went this time of year. Is it worth it?

Our only other option of going this year would be 4th of July weekend.

It's very wise that you're thinking of staying onsite...especially during the Christmas holiday. ALL local parks are nuts during Christmas thru New Years and the lines will be quite long...for standby and Express. But...you would have the advantage and will be able to do much more than others.

Stay onsite for unlimited FOTL....you'll be glad you did.... both of your choices of dates are busy times of the year....

We've never been to US/IOA over Christmas, but booked a room at Royal Pacific for Christmas Eve. DH asked about rates for a few days prior to Christmas, Christmas Day, and a few days after...the rates jumped considerably on Christmas Day.

We were just at Universal in Dec, however we did not stay Christmas week. The decorations were nice, especially in Suess-land. I don't think there is a comparison between WDW and USO or IOA in terms of Holiday decor/vibe. That being said, we still had a great time and enjoyed what the parks had to offer.
