Universal/Cab Questions

I'm being dragged to Universal on Tuesday. I have absolutely NO DESIRE to go, but another couple is meeting us there the first day of our trip. I have two questions though...

1. How much is the regular Universal ticket (just the original park) and is it cheaper to buy and print it out before you go?

2. What is cheaper? A cab from AKLV or Mears?

Thanks for your help friends.

One day, one park is 73.00 in advance, 79.00 at the gate. One day, 2 park is 99.99 at the gate, 89.99 in advance. Here's the link: http://www.universalorlando.com/Tickets/tickets_2.aspx#

You may find yourself pleasantly surprised when you go. It's actually alot of fun. We really enjoy it and see how many times we can ride Simpsons and MIB each trip. 7 Times has been my limit for Simpsons so far.

We also love Spiderman, Bluto's Bilge Barge and the Sinbad show at Islands of Adventure. DS and DH like Dueling Dragons too.

Good Luck NikkiBell

Maybe it was just the summer season, but I found Universal Studios dirty (trash just left everywhere in queue, etc) and lots of roving bands of youths. I hope it was just the summer and cheap tickets. Have a nice time.

I think it is an advance purchase option but didn't Universal used to offer roundtrip transportation from disney hotels with a 1 day 2park ticket for 85 bucks or so????? I can't remember but I thought the podcast talked about it one time......Ok I just looked at the website and I can't find anything on this. Maybe I was dreaming or they just don't offer anymore.

I heard about that but don't know if they still offer that. But I'd still think it's cheaper to go with Mears than a cab.

A one day ticket is almost the same price as a Disney one day? Huh. I didn't know that. Learn something new every day.

I don't know when you plan to go to Universal or how much hassle this would be, but I know Universal offers shuttles, I think for free, from the Downtown Disney hotels. I don't know the details, but maybe call the Hilton and ask. You could take a bus from AKL to DTD and just walk over to the Hilton to catch the bus to Universal.

Nikki, Relax and open yourself to a new adventure. Universal is a fun place. Different, but still very enjoyable.

I am sure you can find this at any authorized ticket re-seller, this is the first I found.

1-Day / 2-Park Pass to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure plus shuttle transfers - Adult - $87.01

Admission for 1 day to both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. You can visit both Universal Parks on the same day. Plus, you get roundtrip shuttle transfers from a Disney Resort to Universal Studios and back to your Disney Resort after your day.

Have fun! And if you think it is "not-so-wonderful", at least it is at the beginning of your trip before your WDW days.

I don't mind Universal, depending on what I'm going to see.

I would suggest you did not miss Spiderman, The Simpsons, Men in Black, and The Mummy (if Everest doesn't bother you, the Mummy wouldn't either.)

The one thing I would never see again is Poseidon's Fury. I don't know if that was in the section being renovated for Harry Potter, I'd say good riddance. It was a multiple section walk-thru with only one cool effect...which I heard they later stopped doing. Most of it was cheesy, and I kept waiting for a ride loading area.

If you like coasters, the ones at Islands of Adventure are comparable to Six Flags. And unless you want buckets of water tossed over your head, you won't do any rides in Toon Lagoon.
