Hi, we are planning our first trip in May and thanks for all the great advice thus far. One more question and sorry but I have heard 'conflicting' stories on this and it will kill me not to know. When I use the APH rate to book the hotels it is cheaper by over $100 a night so will they make me show ID when I get there? Some have said yes and some have said no (even the hotel itself gave me to different answers but acted as if it was something that happened everyday). With a Disney, Coco Key and US trip ever dollar helps at the moment.

Thanks

Not sure I understand your question. What ID are you asking about? A passport or driver's license or the Annual Pass?

Whenever I check into a hotel, I always present my license and a major credit card for incidentals.

I used the Annual Pass discount and offered to show the reception person, but she said it was not necessary.

But, as you said, it may differ from person to person.

Okay thanks, I am talking about the annual pass ID. I asked a few people who have been there and some say they asked for it so say they didn't and like I said even the hotel had different answers depending on who I asked.

I think it depends on each CM...I have had CM's ask me for the AP and I have had them, just as often, not...I am speaking more for Disney...but we have an AP for US also...

generally speaking, yes, they ususally do ask proof you have the ap.
if you have the voucher, they will tell you once you get your ap to show it to the desk clerks while you are still a guest there.

if you fail to present the ap, your rate will revert back to rack rate.

i have seen some posters here state they were never asked to show the ap.
so, that does happen.

those on the dis are a very small percentage of the guests that stay at the darkside hotels.

the times i used the ap for a discounted stay at the hotel, they did not copy it (except at hrh.)
they saw the ap and made note of it in my files.

I was not asked to show my AP at the RPR, but I did ask the registration agent. He said it was not necessary. I had my AP though.

That was my experience at Portofino. But I definitely was prepared to show it, once I got it from the machine! And I think she could tell that I was sincere. and I know it wasn't the norm, in terms of their procedure.

So expect that you will be showing your AP at some point during your stay.

We weren't ask to show our APs the last time we were at both Disney and Universal. However, like Mac said, they can ask and if you don't have it and aren't getting it before you check out, you're rate will be changed to rack rate.

I just called to book 2 rooms (family of 6), and was told I would need 2 AP's to get the AP rate for both rooms. Has anyone else been told this? So, I went with my backup plan of a 35% off the seasonal rate code I received in an email. It's only $6.10 more per day per room than the AP rate.

Like others have said it is hit and miss on showing the AP, we have had to show it and then we have not been asked to show proof. I would hate for you to bank on not having to show one and then end up paying RACK rate for a room. That will really mess up your budget :)

Now for the booking 2 room thing, I think this again is one of those gray areas. If you let them know you are a large family that has to book 2 rooms then they usually will only need the one AP.
