if any of you can possibly help me out. I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you so very much!

Hi, you're right. I visit the Universal boards very infrequently even though we've been there several times. I'll tell you what I know of the rides you mentioned. I'll preface this by saying that both my kids are daredevils - will do any rollercoaster, any time, any where (as long as they're tall enough). However, my son (at 8) was scared of Back to the Future and Spiderman. I myself find Spiderman to be one of the best rides anywhere, but it can be very intense. I've 'heard' that they had a stationary option for physically challenged and potentially others, but have never experienced it or seen it for myself so I really can't comment that it's true or not. I'm sure if you go to the Universal site you can click on the attraction to get more detail.

There are play areas in both parks. In IoA, it's the boneyard (dry) and the area to the left of the Cat in the Hat ride (wet) and in USF it's the Curious George area (very, very wet). I typically pack the kids' bathing suits, flip flops and plastic bags and let them run around in the wet areas for a while to blow off steam. It's a welcome respite for us all. The hardest part is getting them out.

Jaws, Men in Black and Twister we did not have any problem with. They were not scared. They actually thought Twister was boring. Earthquake is a little more intense as is King Kong, wide-eyed scared. ET is one of their favorites. We haven't been there to experience the Mummy, Shrek or Jimmy Neutron yet.

HTH! Have a great trip!

Last time we visited (2002) my son was 8 and he enjoyed Jaws. Probably too intense for younger.

In 2000 my son was also 6 and enjoyed everything you listed (except Jimmy Neutron which wasn't there) and Jaws was closed for renovation. Teradon flyers is an OK ride, and I think it is only 1 person at a time. It was closed in 2002, so my memory has faded a little re this ride!!

i'm so glad I posted here!!! :flower: ....my msg has rec'd much more attn since I did! Thank you all!!!

Bumping :Pinkbounc this up just in case others have more to add.....

We've been to Universal several times. Our first trip our kids were 1 1/2, 8, 11, and 13yo. The kids all liked it and there are truly things for all ages.

We're not a big fan of Back to the Future. I feel like I'm being thrown around, but will go on the ride if I'm with someone who wants to ride.

We liked the Street Breakz show a lot--very entertaining. Blues Brothers isn't our thing quite as much.

My kids has never been scared of Jaws, even when my youngest was at a fearful stage (I say stage because he is a true daredevil, but did have a year that he was scared of things--he was 3yo then). For some reason Jaws didn't scare him, but Spiderman did. Go figure!

Jimmy Neutron is fun, but something is off on that ride (I think the movement doesn't exactly match the picture) and I always feel a bit sick after it. I do take ginger capsules to help with that. BTW, I'm fine on Mission:Space. I do JN each visit at least once, though.

I LOVE Men in Black. I can ride it again and again for hours.

We all like the Horror Makeup Show. We've always sat right up front and my youngest is always somehow made fun of in the show. His very first time at that show he was around 3 and he was playing with some coins during the show and the emcee brought everyones attention to how he wasn't even paying attention to the show. :rotfl:

Pteranadon Flyers is one person per seat, but 2 seats are hooked together. That ride scares me a little and my DH won't ride it. What a weenie he is! ;)

Stay dry on One Fish, Two Fish? Uh, sure, whatever you want to believe! :teeth: We are talking sprinkles, not soaking wet.

Be careful of the fountain. You REALLY can get wet there. My youngest loves it and we usually just bring extra clothes for him.

I don't think that kids under 40" can go on Spiderman at all, unless they have changed the height restriction.

You older son will like Mummy Coaster if he likes Space Mt. It's a good ride!

Shrek is a fun show--so much better than the 3D shows at WDW. Don't miss it!

Any other questions, ask away!

Thank you! I'm going to have to assimilate the info I've rec'd on both threads...and get back to you. I didn't list a bunch of the rides we plan to do as I didn't have questions about them. I'm really hoping dd will be able to pass for 40" for Spiderman and a few other things, but I'm doubtful, and I certainly wouldn't want to risk anything.

I'm very surprised others have mentioned being scared on Pteredon flyers too. I thought it was like a Dumbo...is it something different????? :confused3

Wow...I didn't think ds could do the Mummy. Thought it might be too intense. That's terrific!!!!!!!!! He LOVES Space Mtn...and Thunder Mtn. So this is great news! I was thinking his best coaster here would be Flying Unicorn and I thought it was smaller than the Mtns at Disney.

Thanks again.

Since I don't have kids, I can't give much insight there...but IoA seems to have a lot for kids. The Dr.Seuss area is neat, we love the Cat in the Hat ride. Spiderman is a must-see, I hope they're tall enough! And DON'T miss Shrek 4-D! Not sure which park it's in (US or IoA), but it's the best of all 3-D shows. Love the Jurassic Park area too. We always look up at the Pteranodon ride and think, "if only we had a kid with us, we could ride that." It's sort of like a suspended glider, and you fly around Jurassic Park (usually the parent sits in back & the child is in front of them). Hope you guys have a blast!!

If you get there first thing in the morning they will possibly let you ride without children!

As far as your son on Mummy, it depends. The theming is scarier than Space Mt, but the ride itself really isn't. Part of it is coaster and part isn't. It's not upside down scary like Rock N Roller Coaster. It just depends if the theming would scare him too much. You will have to baby swap, anyway because of your younger child, so that parent can preview it if you're not sure. I know that my son will do it as soon as he is tall enough.

Thought I'd give this one last bump just in case anyone else had something to add here...or on the link I give above.

Thank you!!!
