Universal annual pass question

I've been to Disney many times, and now want to take our first trip to universal in June.

We are thinking about the annual pass, the cheapest one, since it is only $10 more than the 3-day park hopper. (and the cheapest one comes with 3 months extra for free, so 15 months). I have a question about the activation date though. It says I need to purchase and activate it by Apr. 4th to get the 3 months free. Can I do that online? I know I can purchase it online, but can I activate it online on April 4th? I don't plan to be in FL again until June, but I would like to buy this pass and use it this June and next June. Or do I have to use it in the park before April 4th? That would ruin my plan, so I'm trying to figure out the best option.

I was wondering something similar. Pretty sure you can't activate the pass online, but if I place an order by phone, I am curious if they can they activate the passes and ship them to me?

To get an additional six months on each of our passes would be well worth any shipping charge.

This is the same information I was given at the parks last month.

The ONLY way to activate a pass is by using it to enter the parks.

I just came online to find answers about the Seasonal Pass and I don't understand the Activation Date versus First Visit Date. I guess it's the same thing?

You activate your pass on your first visit, so you are right, it is the same thing.
