Universal Announces it's first Harry Potter weekend!!!

That's an incredibly well priced event too, IMO, $700 for 4 nights 3 day park hopper, the events, breakfast, etc.

Agreed especially since you get 200 dollars worth of blurays.

Sure, because those two are totally related...

Well Disney is killing a special event and UNI is adding one tgats how they are related. Also you don't think the timing of this is a coincidence?

Not sure what you mean?

Well, if you've read my posts you know I'm a big potter and Universal fan but around here the 'Disney defense league' usually pooh-pooh's anything done by Universal and the potter franchise in general. So to continue to make the short answer long, my post was firmly tongue in cheek.:woohoo:

I had to double check the name and make sure it wasn't Condorman...then I remembered, I block Condorman anyway :thumbsup2

I'm a Potter fan and thought that this sounded great ... until I looke at the price!

Really I disagree the lower package is 369 and you get.

4 day ticket
4 nights in a hotel
8 blurays that are probally worth between 200-300 dollars.

That sounds like a bargain to me!

A 3-day single park ticket (meaning no park hopping), and 4 nights at the Quality Inn on I-Drive (yes, after reading the fine print, you'll see that's where the base package rooms are located), plus a whole bunch of "perks" that most other resort guests get (aside, obvs, from the blu-rays) does not seem like much of a deal to me at $369, but is even worse of a deal at $700 :confused3.... plus the movies showing at CityWalk are separately priced (to me, almost the best part of the whole thing!).

FWIW, LeakyCon and many of the other fan-run conventions that have been around here lately are much better deals with more celebs, more programming, more special perks, and better hotels for cheaper prices and longer periods of time... can't see how Universal is charging so much when others managed to pay their set prices and pull it off for less! Makes me sad as a huuuuuge Potter fan that Universal won't do more for their customers like the midnight premiere surprise (awesome, unexpected, unique, and best of all, a great bargain :thumbsup2).

I suggest you don't go.:thumbsup2

I'm not interested in HP enough to be interesting in this event, but kudos to Universal for putting it together -- and I do agree that the price point of this is extremely reasonable, all things considered. It's not a bargain, but it's roughly in line with what a few nights in the hotel and days in the park would cost -- but you get so much more than that.

I'm guessing the "stars" will be strictly second tier, but so what? If you're a Potter fan, it'll be great fun.

So you have to book a vacation package to take part?

Seems a strange way to do something. They could have closed the park at 7PM like Disney does and the potterheads would have shelled out extra $$ to purchase a ticket for a private event.
