Universal add a day after we use a day?

We will be trying Universal for the first time (kids ages 5,7,9.11). Staying on site for the extra hour in the morning. My question is, if I purchase a one day pass with park to park, then we decide we want to go back the next day does Universal do an upgrade deal (multi day deal?) like Disney does when you add days, or do we get stuck paying for the two full price days? I will be kicking myself if I need to pay the extra when I could just buy it now.

I'm debating if we can do it all in one day, so not sure I want to spend the $ if we don't need it for the second day.

You have to decide before you leave the park on day 1. Not much of a discount on just 2 days. Of course, there's a buy 2, get 2 promo on Undercover Tourist (and maybe Universal), I think.

lines at guest service can be a wait on some days.
if you are adding a day to the p2p ticket, don't wait till the last minute to do so.

With the ages of your kids, I would do 2 day passes especially if some of them like thrill rides. There are so many things to explore at universal. My kids could spend half a day just in the Camp Jurassic Park play area. But as stated above, you can upgrade them while you are there.
