It's been a while since I've been able to book first class (last time was probably a trip in 2009). Does United still allow access to their lounge on the same day as the first class ticket? How is the lounge in Orlando?

No lounge access as far as I know. You have to be a member or have passes. We flew United First in April and there was no indication that we had lounge access. I'll have to check. Since the price of first class has come down so much over the last few years we plan to always do it when we fly cross country.

Here's a link to their policy and it's pretty confusing. Nothing seems to indicate that a first class ticket gets you into the lounge.

Is your flight domestic or international?

On United, normal domestic first class does not allow automatic lounge access.

On United, international business class and international first class allow lounge access.

It's actually a little more complicated than that. But, in short, a first class flight to Orlando from a U.S. airport does not allow automatic lounge access.

It's the same with American Airlines (and probably with Delta too, although it's been a long time since I flew first class on Delta).

Thanks. That's what I gathered from reading their site but it is a bit confusing.

Delta, too, sadly. And it's rotten bc when you're booking first, info about the club shows up at the time and when you check your booking. The hours of the relevant clubs for your travel right there. They must get SO many people thinking they have access bc of that. I did for a couple months until I asked DH! Their system knows the cities you booked, so that info shouldn't show up.

I had the same flights booked in a different month but main cabin, and that info did not show up for that booking.

No club with first unless its first or bus. international. Club passes are, I think, $50 per person per visit. Club at Orlando is a typical United club. nothing special.

I agree the website is confusing. It has been a while. Back in 2009 a first class ticket got you in...

Oh well.

Thanks for posting the link! I had a question regarding bringing guests, and this answered it!
