Hi guys
DH surprised us last week saying that he was taking us to Disney for Christmas.
We fly out on the 18th of December for 15 nights.
We are flying with United Airlines.
Has anyone flown with them ? I have been looking online but they seem to be getting quite bad reviews and now I'm getting a bit worried.
You guys always seem to come through for me whenever I have a question so I'm hoping someone can help me this time. :)

I've flown with United for years to many different destinations and I don't find them any better or any worse than most other scheduled airlines. I used to think they were one of the better transatlantic airlines, but when they started to really cut back about 10 years ago, their service did suffer. At that point I started only flying with them if they were the cheapest, whereas before I'd go with them as long as the fare was reasonable. However, it never got to the point where I wouldn't fly with them at all and as all the other airlines also cut their services and raised their prices, I've found myself coming back to them again - in fact if I'm flying economy, I'd still pick them over Virgin every time, even though they don't go direct to Orlando.

Never flew with them, but am next July from LHR to Chicago and on to Orlando.
cannot see them being any worse or better than any other airline in Economy, dont know about the more expensive seats.
Planning on booking extra case each online for coming home at $45 each.

We flew with United from Heathrow to LAX, LAX to Vegas, Vegas to San Fran, and San Fran to Heathrow (multi-trip) and had no problems whatsoever :thumbsup2

Continental are actually merging with them soon as well. Just your typical American airline, usual free sodas/juice etc. We had seatback entertainment but it wasn't in demand or anything when we went but that might have changed now!

i hope after the merger they're more like continental than united..
continental is a wonderful airline....a cut above the other american airlines!!

Can't comment on your Airline query but just had to say what a wonderful suprise from your DH! :cool1:

I found United to be without question the best of the american airlines I've flown. It doesn't compare to BA but few American airlines do.

I had the total opposite experience with Continental; found their staff rude and unhelpful on more than one occasion. I would not choose to fly Continental again unless it was unavoidable.

Surprised at that, have flew with Continental a few times now, and will be doing so again in March, never had any problems with them. As long as it gets me there and back in one piece I find most airlines much of a muchness (although I do seem to prefer the American airlines to ours).

Beth it's United that's taking over Continental (I'm sure, I could be wrong) so I guess they'll more conform to United's "way of life" as I don't think they're keeping them as seperate brands :confused3

Thanks for all the replies.
I knew I could rely on you guys :)
Feel a bit better about flying with them now. :cool1:

We couldn't believe it when DH told us.
My DD13 has not shut up about it since and has already started packing lol

we have flown to hawaii & florida with united & also SF & florida with them.i personally always try,to fly with them,as i find the seats have more room, which makes a difference for me,as i'm not a size 10.i definately found the flight,to be more comfortable, than us airways.we are also using them,in 4 weeks.i'm sure you won't have a problem:)
