Should we be worried about the latest announcement about cutting flights on United? We have seats on TED in March  Wonder when they will start notifing people?

Yikees

Ted and United are separate. You should be ok. I heard they are moving more flights to Ted.

All airlines are required to inform their passengers of changes of more than 5 minutes. UA will either e-mail you or call you. If you booked through a travel agency, the agent will call you. If you booked online via Expedia or such, then that web site should contact you.

I'd just check your flights about once a month between now and when you travel. Also, if there is a change, you should double check your seat assignments, sometimes the change will knock them out of the reservation.

Don't count on that notification especially if you booked through someplace like Expedia. Expedia, Travelocity and the others are pretty bad at contacting thier customers!

Also, the airlines notify you as they get to it. So you need to stay on top of it and contact them to get your options if your flight changes.

I wouldn't count on that. We have our November tickets booked through United, and both of my flights changed, the outbound by 20 minutes, and then the return by an hour and half. The outbound changed first, and it was that way for OVER a month, with no notification. The return was changed, I'm not sure, but I usually check weekly. I of course called IMMEDIATELY since we're on a cruise, and the flight leaving 1 1/2 hours earlier than before was not good!! We were able to change our flights easily, and without too many problems. But personally, I'd keep checking my flights if I were you. My on-line itinerary at UA did say that I had a change and to call to confirm, so I'd keep checking, I know I will..... Acutually, I should check now!!

Thanks everyone, we booked united on there internet site UAL. I'm a compulsive planner (ie = DIS board fan) so will enjoy checking our flights frequently.

I'm using TED on our next flight (used them on our July flight). While a part of UniTED, after reading the article, I don't think they are affected. I believe United is focusing on the smaller, less popular routes. TED/United has been wonderful about informing me of flight changes. I think they have called me about 5 times for my October trip. I do try to log into "my itineraries" once a month to check on any time changes. TED only uses their Airbus fleet, so there is no problem with seat change. The only time we've encountered seat changes on United is when they change the equipment and we are moved to a larger plane.
