Uniquely Canadian, eh!

As a CBC, I'm curious - what would you say is the difference between Chinese-Canadian and Chinese-American food? I have nothing against either, I'm just genuinely curious.

(Side note: yes, many Chinese-American/Canadian restaurants have a "secret menu", or will make something more "authentic" so long as you know what you want)

I think there is a big difference in Chinese food in Canada compared to what I used to eat in England. I never thought of 'secret menus' but would love to get some of the dishes that I used to get back in the UK. Have so far never seen them on any menu here. That could also be about location in Canada too! I live in Guelph so a fairly small community, maybe I should look around Toronto for a better selection.

Americans don't have ketchup chips? Oh boy, i will be not survive lol! The Lays are the best but you can find kechup chips in big bags at Dollarama, they are pretty good.

Taste of artisanal canadian cheese, we are good in making cheese :teacher:

Agree with the kinder eggs...they will be taken away at the border...not allowed in the USA

I know it's not in Guelph but if you want to take the trip to Kitchener come check out Cameron's Seafood Restaurant. It has some of the best Chinese food I've had especially their dim sum menu!

Thanks for the advice aj23. I am not a lover of seafood but might give that a go for their Chinese food. My favourite dishes from the Chinese in England was the Crispy Peking Duck with the hoisin sauce, and pancakes that you make up yourself. They are usually served with shredded cucumber and green onions and the other favourite was a sweet chili crispy beef. Ooh now I want some Chinese food!

I'm in Waterloo and I hadn't heard of that place - I'll have to check it out now!

Miss Vickies is now in the states, but the sea salt and Malt are not.

All Dressed Chips are Canadian
Timbits
Butter tarts
Back Bacon
Poutine

Poutine is apparently becoming a thing in the U.S. Toronto chain Smokes opened up 2 locations in the LA area and apparently are opening one in Vegas.
