Can anyone tell us of some unique souvenirs to look for while we are on our trip next year?
I know of the Pearls in Japan at Epcot- What are some others? We'd like to get souvenirs beyong the usual things that you can pick up about anywhere...
Also, are there places in the park to purchase Lenox, Swarvoski, etc type Disney items? We have a cigar shop here that carries from time to time Disney (Mickey) items by Lenox, etc but never have what I want- Thanks for those who can give us any tips :thumbsup2

I have seen these types of items in Germany and one other glass/crystal type shop in World Showcase. I purchased a small glass slipper in Germany and I love having it out in my living room.

World of Disney has some Lenox figurines, and some Swarvorski items. Art of Disney stores (there is one at DTD and at every park except AK) generally have the best selection of Lenox pieces, including on occasion pieces you can only get at the parks, and not on the website. Arribas Brothers, at DTD, has a very nice selection of swarvorski as well.

when dd was younger, she got a Minnie in a Kimona and found a kimona for herself that was almost the same print in the same color.

We have also designed our own Englepupen dolls in Germany.

The Art of Disney at Downtown Disney has some awesome prints, paintings and statues.

All of the nations have very unique gifts. Just off the top of my head:

Japan - Mikimoto pearls, sushi dishes, beautiful chopsticks
Canada - maple syrup
Germany - Christmas ornaments
France and Italy - wine

Almost every nation has unique candy too! That's always fun to bring home. I also brought home candy apples from Goofy's Candy Company for the people who watched my house and my co-workers. They LOVED them!

I think a lot of the items at Arribas Brothers (DTD) are really nice and unique (if you don't live near a shop like this at home). They have some really nice crystal pieces that make beautiful keepsakes, as well as some of the prettiest disney inspired rings.

I also think some of the most unique items you can buy come from the different countries in Epcot, so maybe that'd be a good place to start your shopping adventure.

I like the Precious Moments in MK exculisive to the World!

What about China? Anything unique to China? A friend of mine went to China (the "real" one! ;) ) and bought back a Chinese Foo (Fu?) Dog for her son which was lost in a move. Does anyone know if they carry them? I'd love to get one for her to replace it with if they do. Anyone know? :)

In France we bought a wonderful wooden spoon. It is nicely sanded, and feels so good in your hand to use. I like that we call it "the France spoon." I also bought some wonderful soap there. We also bought a Disney cookbook. The Canadian cheese soup recipe is in there. We bought some Disney measuring spoons too.

I like to buy things that you use, versus things that you look at.

When I think "unique", I think "conversation starter."

For us, it would definately be the sillhouettes we got done on Main St/MK. It was a great price ($35 with frame) and people are always asking us about it when they come to our house!

We also love our Christmas decorations. Epcot/Germany has some really neat ones.

You can also get some neat custom animation cels from imagineers in the art store at DHS & DTD.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but my grandma used to have a troll in the dining room that she and my grandpa got in Norway (the real one). I was so freaked out by it when I was little, I would not go into the dining room. I'm going to try to find her a troll in Norway. My parents just went to Italy for the first time this summer, so I'm going to try to find them something nice in Italy. But the troll will definately be "unique"

Thanks so much for all of your responses! These responses are exactly what I am looking for- I guess Epcot will definitely be where I do my "true" souvenir shopping! I was an army brat and then army wife- so I have been to many of the places Epcot focuses on- I will love browsing each countries wares and will now definitely retrack what my spending budget is going to be- LOL You guys did thisto me... :rolleyes1 LOL I really appreciate it- I had no idea of some of the items mentioned!
& Hey Armywife, If you live on Ft. Bragg- I live about 10 miles from you! So cool! A Dis-er so close!

I also brought home candy apples from Goofy's Candy Company for the people who watched my house and my co-workers. They LOVED them!

I"m getting this on my next trip-I didn't really care for the make your own rice krispy treats (I know-gasp!!:scared1: )-I saw the apples on our last trip & they looked so good! I think they sell these in the Epcot/Germany store as well.

My mom LOVES the asian wine bottle outfits that they sell in either the China or Japan store. They are slightly over-priced at WDW compared to buying them in Asia or even a China town, but they are unique. When she goes to people's houses she brings a dressed up wine bottle complete with a little hat for the host!
