I need some help with Easter basket ideas for DS17 & DD12.

I'm not talking about the contents, I'm talking about using something different fot the actual "basket". We are very untraditional in our baskets. In the past I've used beach buckets, purses, little wire trash cans, plastic totes, even a new baseball helmet once. The kids are looking forward to seeing what I can come up with this year. But I'm just out of creative ideas!!!

This year I bought a picnic basket! My granddaughter is 8 and she loves picinic's so I thought it would be perfect. The easter bunny always brings her little gifts because she doesnt like candy, so we need to leave the bunny something big enough for toys!

How about a tool box for your son and some sort of cosmetics/hair accessories storage for your daughter?

What about a Chinese take-out container. They usually have those at Micheals.

Or-some paint stores sell new/empty paint cans with lids. The time we did this, we tied a paint can opener to the handle. Cans can easily be decorated, I'm sure Pinterest would have ideas.

What about weekender bags? They are quite popular and your kids are at an age where they may begin to travel more and more. A bit more money than some choices but can be used for a long time. Maybe beach bags, new trash can for their rooms, a storage container that matches their rooms, new book bags, or maybe popcorn bowls.

We did small suitcases for the kids this year. In the past I've done the sandbuckets, bookbags, tote bags, and helmets.

Maybe a watering can for the garden? If you give us some of their interests or the things you're including it may help spark some ideas too :)

* hats -- baseball cap for your son, beach hat for your DD
* tote bags -- could be something as a carry-on, beach bags, sports gear bag, or just those reusable bags that they can pack up and carry-with for groceries and sundries (they will be more useful than your kids realize). I know you've done it but they are always useful.
* new backpacks
* throw blankets or beach towels and you tie up the corners

One year we put oldest DD's Easter goodies into a pair of cowboy boots she had been asking us to buy for months. An upside down hat (cowboy hat, easter bonnet, or just a cute hat from your local teen clothing store) would work just as well.

Candy Candy and more Candy lol.

really the only thing i wanted for easter when i was little was good candy.

I got DD who is 18 an ottoman that opens to store things in for her room. It was Chevron print which she loves and it was clearanced at Target which was even better. She has a chair in her room that it will match.

My boys are a lot younger (they are 5 and 6) and I am using beach bags (which are backpacks) from Children's Place.

This year I am using a free tote from Victoria's Secret that I got when I purchased swimsuits (that I am going to put inside!).

I have made the decorated paint cans before. The girls really liked those and my one daughter still uses it for a trashcan in her room and that has been several years ago.

Last year I made totes with a customized logo that they could use on our family cruise that summer.

One year I got them vera bradley purses and used that as the "basket".

Mini fish tanks for each of them! The tank supplies can be part of the gift but you can stuff everything into the small tanks. They can each get their own beta fish or goldfish. :)

If they like to garden at all, large colorful planting pots.

Laundry basket if your oldest DD is going away to college.

Giant ceramic popcorn bowl.

Fold a new fluffy robe or hoodie into a basket/bowl shape.

Pedicure foot spa bath (electric one).

I know these are all really weird ideas but my mom was really clever and creative like that when I was a kid and we loved it so much. :)

They aren't weird at all! These are all exactly the types of ideas I was looking for.

Thank you everyone!

I like the idea of a beach towel for DD. If I can figure out how to make it "basket-ish" I will try that. Not sure I'll be able to fold/tie it up right?

If DS had a car, I was going to do some car-wash type bucket. But since he has no car yet, that would be pretty cruel of me! Lol

you could decorate pillow cases

spray paint an existing container you have at home that works/

Treasure chest (they sell wicker type ones at Hobby Lobby)

how about a igloo cooler or the like? You could personalize with stickers, their names~logos of their favorite drinks etc. You could get hard or soft collapsible kinds

lawn chair with bag~ take chair out, fill with goodies then give them the chair after

opened umbrella , upside down holding items
