Unique Borrowing Question

I have a unique use month and borrowing question for all the Disney Vets...

My use month is December and my family is planning a trip for Christmas 2003. When I make reservations for next year in my 11 month window, do I have to have all points available? A little clarification... I have already banked 200 pts, in January when the reservations are made, I will have 200 + 300 borrowed from 2004. Now my use month is the same as my vacation time, can I also use points from 2005 for a total of 800 points, or do I have to wait till December 2003?

2003 - 200 points
2004 - 300 points
2005 - 300 points - can these be borrowed since my use month and vacation time are in the same month?

With a December use year and a December 2003 trip, you could use:

December 2002 Use Year - banked
December 2003 Use Year - current
December 2004 Use Year - borrowed

You could not borrow December 2005 points. I am confused on which points you already used & banked. Did you already use all your December 2002 points? Or will you bank some December 2002 points? You mentioned banking 200 points, are those 2002 points? If they are, then you would have 200 banked + 300 current + 300 borrowed available for December 2003.

Any points issued Dec 1, 2002, can be banked into the use year that begins Dec 1, 2003 and can be used as "banked" points for that Christmas 2003 trip. Any points to be issued Dec 1, 2003 can also be used for that trip and those will be your "current" use year points for that trip (you measure things by when you will be there not when you make the ressie). Also, any points to be issued Dec 1, 2004, can be borrowed for that Christmas 2003 trip and those would be the "borrowed" points for that trip.

You cannot use points first issued Dec 1, 2005 or Dec 1, 2001 for that trip.

December 2002 I consider my use year 2003 allotment of points. So as of today, I have use year 2003 points banked. Then when December 2003 rolls around (our vacation time and start of 2004 use year), I will receive another 300 for a total of 500. So if I understand correctly, since I will be going in use year 2004 (calender year 2003), I should be able to borrow from 2005? My line of thinking is a year behind... thanks for all your help! My vacation planning just turned for the better!

You are thinking right, but with a December use year it gets confusing since 11 of the 12 months will be in the next calendar year. Your trip will be in your December 2003 use year, you will be using 2002, 2003 & 2004 points. I understand your thinking but you have to use the proper use years when talking to member services or you could run into trouble. When you make a reservation, you should ask member services for your balances for each year to make sure they applied the points correctly.

As a general rule of thumb, you can never use more than 3 years worth of points at one time. This would be banked, current and borrowed. You cannot bank forward more than one year nor borrow forward more than one year.
