Could someone give me the heads up on how much of each peice of clothing I will need for my sons uniform.

I was thinking 3 polo shirts, 3 trousers and 2 jumpers.

I was going to get one logo item of the jumper and polo shirt for anytime they may need it for school trips etc.

I figured this way I could have one in the wash, one on and one spare (which knowing me will be another one in the wash LOL)

I know I can always buy more if need be but I don't want to go crazy and have stuff he doesn't use.

Thanks in advance
Kirsten

That is more or less what I buy each year

How exciting for your little boy !

My DD is starting reception in September too, and she has two jumpers, a pair of trousers, a skirt and 5 polos (only because they were 5 for £4 at Asda recently!)

I think what you have got will be fine.

Is your son looking forward to it?

:goodvibes

At the risk of sounding like a dumb American?

What is a jumper? Over here little girls have things called jumpers which are basically dresses with a top shaped somewhat like overalls (but they aren't jeans, they just have straps like that) and they wear a shirt under them.

However since you were talking for a boy I'm assuming they are something different to you.

Jumper is a pullover/sweater.

Can I recommend getting the woven name tapes? The ones in capitals are easier for the adults to read easily when a pile of jumpers is left in the playground but any are better than a biro scrawl which fades on washing - oh, and sew them somewhere obvious that can be found quickly as a few of our parents have sewn them in the most obscure places (including one who put them inside the sleeve???).

Asda / Sainsbury's uniform is cheap and washes well. I don't buy the logo polos because you can't see the logo when they wear a jumper. I buy about 6 cheap polos from Asda and a logo cardigan/jumper. The uniform is cheap - it's the school shoes that make me go :scared1:

The thing that surprised me most about my son's uniform was how, even at the age of 5, even having a bath each night and a wash each morning and a regular hair wash, EVEN then he got a dirty tide mark around his collar! For this reason he always had a clean shirt each day so I always got 5 for him.

Once I started working in a school, helping little ones do up buttons after PE etc, you can't help but notice how many children come to school on a Monday in grubby clothes - sometimes even on the first day of term. :scared1: That made me even more determined that mine would be spotless and I probably became a bit fussy about such things.

For all the colours in the world, why do they have to chose white, they look lovely for about the first 5 mins........

I bought one polo and one jumper with logo and the rest will come from M&S as I wanted to get the skinkind ones to hopefully not annoy his excema.

DD's summer dress is lemon and white, and we only bought one, I wash it nearly every night to keep it clean and fresh. She gets a tide mark around the collar on that too, I think it's from the sun cream that we have been piling on her though, because she showers most mornings and always has a bath before bed!

I will also second the name tapes, I always put mine in the neck of what ever it is or by the label in trousers etc. I ordered 600 of the little blighters for DD - I figured she is going to need them for the next 13 /14 years so why not! :lmao:
