This is not a rural area but well traveled but perhaps wooded, although not deeply so. There was a traffic accident on Rte 91 last April. They never found the driver, just the car. At the same time, a missing persons report was filed. Now it seems to me if there is an accident, a person missing from the car, and a missing person, it would be prudent to assume that the person was injured, disoriented, head injured, etc, and do a thorough search of the entire surrounding area. Furthermore, if you family member was missing, his car was found but he wasn't, wouldn't you hire a search team to search the area if the police wouldn't do it? This is the first I have heard about an accident with a missing driver and we live in this area of the state.

ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) - Police are investigating the discovery of a body in Enfield, Conn. on the campus of the MassMutual Financial Group Thursday morning.

Connecticut State Police Trooper William Tate told 22News a body was found on Brightwood Boulevard around 10:15 a.m.

Trooper Tate said the body is being taken to the state medical examiner's office to determine the identity and the cause of death.

However, state police detectives have made some preliminary conclusions. The deceased is said to be a white male, approximately 5'5'' and 160 pounds.

The body is in a state of decomposition; state police will work to acquire a positive identification and will hold this ID until family memebers have been contacted.

A 22News team was turned away as they approached the gates of MassMutual in Enfield.

The discovery of the body follows the disappearance of 28 year-old Jody King of Ticonderoga, New York. In late April the construction worker was reported missing following a traffic accident on Route 91 North in Enfield.

My DF works at Mass Mutual in Springfield and heard about it this morning. He said police had been searching for the body for the past month. He sometimes works at the Enfield campus and I'm glad he wasn't there today!

Whoa! "King" is the maiden name of one of my late grandmother's and her ancestors are all from Ticonderoga and Crown Point, NY.. That would be some kind of weird if it was a relative of mine.. Unfortunately my mom has Alzheimer's so bad she wouldn't have a clue if I asked her about it and all of her siblings are deceased, so there's no one else to ask.. Don't know how common the name "King" is in that area, but that is really strange..

But back to the story.. Was the body found near the site of the accident - or somewhere else? How could they not look for someone after an accident? :confused3

Cops Trying to ID Body Found in Enfield

A decomposed body was found on the property of Mass Mutual in Enfield Thursday and state police are investigating.

A security officer found the decomposed body of a man on the property of MassMutual in Enfield around 10:15 a.m. Thursday and state police are investigating.

Lt. Paul Vance, of State Police, said the body was found in "a maze of drainpipe” and there was no telling how the person could have gotten there. The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy Friday

State police are looking into whether the body is that of Jody King, a 28-year-old father of three from Ticonderoga, New York who was working in the area. He disappeared after a crash on Interstate 91 northbound in Enfield near Exit 48 on the evening of April 20.

He had been at Sports Haven bar in New Haven and left around 7:30 p.m. At 8:57 p.m. 911 calls reported his truck was in a crash, according to information on a missing persons poster.

When police responded to that crash, they were unable to find the driver.

Two days later, K-9 teams searched the area and found personal effects that did belong to King, police said. Those, clothing and wallet, were found in a wooded area 100 yards from the highway. His cell phone was in the truck and his bank accounts had not been touched.

There has been no sign of King since.

King’s wife, Casey King, has made a four-hour trip from her home to Enfield each weekend since her husband disappeared, the Waterbury Republican-American reported earlier this month.

Jody King last spoke to his wife on the day he disappeared and said he would be spending the night in Meriden, the newspaper reports.

Police have searched for him and Casey King paid for an additional helicopter to search and has posted a reward for information about his disappearance.

Exactly! He was missing? It seems that they would call out tons of volunteers to walk the area. :confused3 Mass Mutual can be seen from the highway.

Trying to remember how much snow was on the ground in April and did we have any late storms? I try to block winter from my mind.

That's gotta suck for his family. The not knowing part & searching. Hope they ID soon & family can have closure.

We had warm weather in April. He had to be within a mile, two at the most of the accident.

Weird. Maybe he was drinking and was nervous after the accident and tried to hide? Sad, whatever happened.
