I am officially brain dead:headache:

Thought we'd better have a look at filling the online forms in for my DS starting Uni in September. We seem to be getting nowhere slowly!! One question asks when does your 3 yr course end and you have to give the day, month and year. The Uni site only gives a proposed date for 2011 and nothing further. He's not even decided yet which Uni to go to but has put one down. His school has told him that he needs to fill the form in asap.
Also, do both parents need to submit forms about income or is one done per household?
Sorry if I'm being thick but I tried to start the parent side of things and it looks as if I need to wait until son's part is submitted first. Help!!

From what I remember when i filled mine out is that you put the proposed finish date down, when I did mine I only had the month & year & this was ok. He will have to nominate a university but this can be changed later. I ended up changing mine with no problem, get him to put his 1st choice one down. They assess both parents income so all with have to be submitted. This is in order to assess how much funding they will offer you DS for fees

The problem is the Uni only has proposed dates for 2011 and no further. Also the site says the 26th August is end of term but I'm presuming that's just the date the campus is open until for anyone doing resits. Most Uni's seem to finish May/June.

Given up now, he can speak to his tutor tomorrow. At this rate, I'll still be doing this:surfweb: when he's started Uni.

Thanks for your help anyway.:)

We had this problem the when filling out my daughters for the first year, In the end we actually phoned the admissons department at the Uni and they were great in giving us all the information we needed (this was even before we knew if she would get accepted at that Uni).

I remember what a nightmare it was, trying to find the correct P60, and everything else I needed, as they needed stuff dating back to the year before, I also had to dig out my Degree Nisi, to send as Im divorced, and after 11 years that was no mean feat.

This year being her second year, I dont need to provide all the paper evidence according to them, just have to fill out the form online.

Good luck, and hope you get it sorted:goodvibes

You do need to wait until your son has done his bit, then you have to register with Student Finance to support his claim. My husband and I had to do this seperately and send our paperwork (mindboggling amounts of it) seperately as well. I suppose this is in case we are concealing secret savings from each other!
I even had to send in an end of year interest statement for an account that pays about £2.76 interest over the year. Finding that for the previous year was good fun. :sad2:

We are in the fortunate position that DS only needed to claim the minimum loans (and he's very aware that they are loans that will need to be repaid.) This amount covered his tution fees and his hall fees.

We therefore didn't need to supply any paperwork. This was lucky as we didn't realise until August that we should have applied by end of May (it was hidden somewhere on 3rd page of application - in fact first page said we could apply any time!!) As it wasn't means tested he did get his money on time.

Thanks everyone for the help. I think I need a degree to understand it all!:confused3

They certainly don't make it easy for the kids....and ME!!

We'll carry on in a couple of days. Parent's Evening for other DS tomorrow.... wish me luck.

The minimum loans bit was paid on time, but the means tested bit (for which we supplied paperwork back in May) wasn't paid until October. It was only a couple of hundred pound, so maybe we shouldn't have bothered with all the paperwork either. :rotfl:
