Ungrateful vent

All I have to say is thank GOODNESS you learned about this now, rather than in 4 weeks, or worse yet - once you got there! Good luck making things work.

I would probably see how much work would be involved in rearranging my plan, just to avoid rocking the boat for people who don't get "Disney Fever" like I do, or understand the massive planning involved.

With that said, I would not be uncomfortable at some point if it became too much of a hassle to rearrange the ADR's etc, to tell them that they need to alter their "gift" instead.

Hope it all works out either way!

I would be drop dead pleased if anyone thought enough of me to surprise me with anything! Go with the flow! You did the right thing to vent here!:cloud9:The Dis has great shoulders for a good vent!

Well it might be a blesssing in disquise if you were planning to go to MK on the only night they have EMH, it will be a mob scene, another schedule might work better.

and make sure to not say something while at Universal like...

Well...the Magic Kingdom Fireworks are starting now. They would have been so awesome if YOU hadn't changed my wonderful plans!!!

I'm usually not passive aggressive...but it comes out with my inlaws sometimes.

Personally I would be thrilled if someone surprised me like this but to each their own. Just rearrange things and you might just have a good time too.

I agree with the majority - VENT, VENT, VENT, then close your mouth, adjust your plans, and just let it go.....

They wanted to show you how much they appreciate all your hard work in planning this wonderful trip for them, they wanted to do it in a big way and thought of something they think you would enjoy but that YOU would not have thought to do. So take another deep breathe and let it go.....

Remember this was done with LOVE so put a smile on your face, apppreciate the fact that they recognize your efforts and just ENJOY your night at Universal. :woohoo: just let it go.....

recite this mantra: it was done with love, it was done with love, it was done with love, it was done with love............

:thumbsup2

Nope... I would feel the same. I am in the same planning boat. My mother and DH keep saying they don't care what, when and where as long as we are at WDW.

the only commitment I can get is from my 4 year old who wants to eat at CRT!

Just waiting for the complaining.

i'm with you on that my dh actually put some input this time, after he complained the last time we where there that he didn't get to do what he wanted to do, I had to ask him about a million times. If I get one complaint this time he might be swimming with fishies and Ariel.:fish::fish::fish:

I don't think you are ungrateful. My family took a trip this past June. Everyone knew about our trip for two years. NO ONE wanted to talk Disney; so I did all the planning (there was ten of us). Both my brothers and my youngest brothers family compained and fought with me the whole ten days we were there (they were unhappy with my choices and touring style).

So, I understand how you are feeling. :grouphug:

I hope you can work out your schedule to make it all work.

I feel so sorry for you and I am crazy in my planning too. But we saw Blue Man group for my DD 13th trip in November. It was DS 9, DD 13, her Best Friend 12, and DD 17. We all loved it. It is a bit weird and different. But we had a ball and all the kids loved it. They come out after the show for photos. My DS had a program and wanted an autograph. The guy takes his hand slaps it in the paint on his head and then on the page, he still laughs when he tells people about it.
I hope your changes for MK work out and you enjoy the show, too.

let me just start by saying i am a huge disney fanatic... a dis-aholic as we say on here.i dropped everything and i moved from tennessee just to get annual passes to go to disney as much as possible. also MK is my favorite park and i understand you being aggrovated.

BUT the blue man group is an experience. it is an AMAZING show. i was shocked how amazing it is. it lasts 2 hours and goes by like 10 minutes. so keep your chin up and enjoy it. you will not be let down.

You will love BMG. Your teenagers will not be disappointed in it. We have been to the Universal BMG a few times and it is a lot of fun. If you asked my 24/27 year olds they would prefer BMG to Magic Kingdom any day. They have been to Disney every year and at this point wouldn't mind a night at Universal. We have actually gotten to the point that the first two nights are spent at Universal and then we move to Disney. Margaritaville is a really good place to eat. You can make a reservation by calling them directly - we usually call a week ahead. If you go with an open mind you will have a great time and may actually enjoy seeing a completely different area of Orlando.

This is a great post....thank you. :flower3: We're definitely a "Disney family" and haven't even been near the Universal area....ever LOL! I know we will have a great time and now that I've gotten a chance to vent and cool off, I'm actually looking forward to it. It's not as if my kids have never been to the MK before (well, the friend who is coming along has not), and I think now that they are older, MK would probably be the least missed anyway.

I just want to thank everyone who posted on this thread for being supportive and understanding! I knew there wouldn't be anyone in my "real" life who would understand Disney planning like you guys would. :teeth:
