If I unfriend someone on facebook, what happens on their end? I know they do not get any message but can they tell? Do I still show as a friend on their list?

I friended another mother from my son's wrestling team. She moved away and is not at all the person I thought she was. She talks about partying and dating and just uses a lot of profanity. I really don't want that showing up all over my page.

Yes, I know, I should have been more careful. I didn't want to ignore her and hurt her feelings but wow, she is a bit too much drama for me.

No answers here, but boy oh boy do I have one of those.... I hate IMing, and she always IM's me. Posts on every single post I make. I was worried about hurting her feelings so that is why I let her be a frind in the first place.

If I could UNfriend her without her knowing, it would be wonderful!

no. As far as i know, you don't leave a trace. My friend de-friended me and then re-friended me (for reasons beyond me) and the only way I found out was when I got her friend request.

If you unfriend someone they have NO CLUE unless they look for you on their friend list and notice that you are no longer on it. I have unfriended a few people who I just don't know well enough to care if they are going to walk their new dog or if they are going to Billy Bob's house for pizza tonight.

Facebook never sends out a notification of 'unfriending' however if they try to check out your page and are unable to access it they will obviously know something's up. HTH! :thumbsup2

You can also choose to hide them so their posts don't show up on your page. I have a few of my friends hidden because the chit-chat gets to be a little much. Just go to the last thing that they posted that showed on your facebook page. Got to the right of their name and there is a tab to "hide" them.

I *hid* a friend today. His posts are a little to *not PG rated* for my wall. (kids reading over shoulder and all) he knew that I had hid him. I don't know if it notified him or he checked my wall and saw though. :confused3 (He totally understood why though...no hard feelings. :) )

I closed my account once and de-friended everyone first (just wanted to erase everything off my account before I got rid of it), and a lot of people noticed. I started getting emails asking where I went. I think a lot of people do notice when you 'disappear'. I didn't even get around to de-friending all my friends before I deleted my account, and even one of those people (who were not de-friended) noticed I was gone---only took a couple of days.

It must have been the latter. Facebook doesn't give notifications about "negative" things (being removed as a friend, hid, etc). Glad there were no hard feelings, though! :thumbsup2.
