Unfortunate incident at Haunted Mansion

Disney didn't tell the people to start pushing, they did it on their own. That was my point. If they waited for the manager to arrive what could he have done?

The manager could have reported the incident. Once it was noted, measures could be taken by Disney to ensure that future incidents of this sort were minimal or nonexistent.

I remember on my last visit, there was a party who knew exactly where the strectching room doors would open into the boarding area. They pushed and shoved their way to be in front of it. When the doors finally opened into the boarding room, they dashed their way into that line, pushing anyone next to them out of the way. This has happened on the Tower of Terror too. People push their way out of the library and run. When I see this type of behavior, I just let them pass me up. It's not worth the aggravation for me.

I hope your DD's knee is better.

Thanks for the reminder there are rude people in the world, only concerned with their pleasure. I agree with the suggestion to just move aside and let them go. It's not worth the hassle and I definitely do not want to end up on the ride near them.

Just curious is a sarcastic Southern voice similar to a sarcastic Northern voice, :)

But we southerners do like to sugarcoat everything

Oh, I never do that! ;)

I do agree that many born and raised southerns are heavily taught manners growing up - yes, sir no, sir etc. It is a southern thing.

I agree HM is the worst to load! People go mental while they're at WDW, too! It brings out the worst (and best) in people!

We say many instances of bad behavior, shoving etc. during our trip from Apr.9-16th. Maybe due to the Easter crowds?

I couldnt believe what I saw at Winnie the Pooh. The ride broke down and an annoyed man, not on the fastpass line, came over to the CM and demanded to know what the problem was and how long it would be. The CM politely said she wasnt sure. He goes back in line and the CM proceeds to let the fastpass line go.

Well, the man goes crazy- irate. He wants to know why his line hasnt moved. He shoves past everyone(and I do mean pushed and shoved) jumps over the chain to where the ride operator is and begins to SCREAM in the CM's face- all the while his large group is cheering him on. The rest of the crowd stops and watches this scene and then begins to chant"throw him out" His final act was to throw something at the ride operator.

This guy was accomodated for his bad behavior and let on the ride. Where was the crowd control there? Kids could have really gotten hurt by this maniac. He wasnt escorted out either. I asked the CM why he wasnt removed and she just shrugged her shoulders.
It was a sickening display. My daughter couldnt believe the way this guy acted and she's 8!

Sammie, a sarcastic voice is a sarcastic voice - no difference between Northern and Southern - think(HOPE) it was just an adjective!!!! Sarcasm makes any voice UGLY, don't you think!!!

Love ya!!!!:Pinkbounc

ok,
i just read all three pages of this and I didn;t notice the most useful piece of information posted anywhere. Next time go to the nearest Security Host. Give them any description you can, clothing number etc. Direction they headed. Security WILL take a report and broadcast a warning to other security to keep an eye out for the same behavior. They not only have the right to remove persons such as this, I have been a witness to them doing it before.

Tell a Security Guard!

There is definetly no difference between a sarcastic southern or sarcastic northern voice. Being from the Boston area and having a somewhat distinct accent myself, I definetly knew it wasn't a northern accent. Plus having friends from Texas, GA and W. V I recognized a southern accent.

I have always thought southerns were extremely pleasant and polite and this somewhat took me aback!!!! Didn't mean to classify southerners as being rude or sarcastic!! I apologize if I offended anyone!

To those posting about getting out of the way. We normally do do that!! We have been many times to WDW and are in no rush to get on a ride any faster than the next one. The position we were in gave us absolutely no choice but to be shoved!!!

No offense taken, just kidding with you.

What we have done at HM when this has happened and we have had it happen. We got with a large group of vulgar young people, potty mouths to be sure as my Dad would say, we went on in but did not enter the room and simply told the CM we needed a moment and would wait for the next group. There was no way we wanted to enter the skrinking room with this mob.

Hope your daughter's knee is a minor thing.

I do believe in, and I do believe that Disney should, sprinkle extra pixie dust on those whose vacations have been dampered inside the parks whether by a mechanical accident or by the inconsiderateness of others.

Especially where someone was injured, it is the proper time and place to hand out little perks, such as extra fastpasses.

One interesting idea would be to intercept miscreants at the ride exit. This would give additional time for security to arrive. It would require that the ride vehicles be numbered and the cast member doing the loading make an appropriate report.

Can anyone call security from a cell phone?

What pintrader said was an excellent idea.We have,it was a bit more extreme than line shovers but if someone gets hurt even a little it should be reported! We got security when we saw one guy who was bulling his way in front of a family who had been in the spot for quite some time to watch ToN. The buller PUNCHED the Father in the face and then ran off! Their 2 kids were crying, the wife was trying to keep her husband there so he wouldn't chase after the guy. I went to the family and told them I'd get security...Joe walked in the direction the puncher went and got a good description of the man.I found a Security Guard quite easliy as it was a parade time.We all told the tale.Later that evening we ran into that family again in a giftshop. They said that security caught the man and the family got special seating for Illuminations which I thought was a nice touch by Disney!

You can find security walking all around the parks. They wear dark ,blue pants, brighter blue shirts and a "cop" hat.If you can't find one tell the nearest CM and they'll be able to call one.

I have a friend that has worked at Disney for years. He always tells us if we have some sort of problem go to Guest Relations and fill out a complaint card about what happened.WDW has these cards for a reason...to see what things/areas are problems and need looking into and improved.

For those pushing and shoving crowds at HM,RnR etc....just step aside is what we do.We're ALL going to get on the ride in about the same wait time for pity sakes! OY!

Oh and by the way I grew up in the North but have lived in the South for about 16 years now...sarcasm is sarcasm no matter how youse/y'all say it! :p

Im sorry to hear of such a lame way to act at such a fun place. You should just give them a left jab and then a HARD right hook. It's dark in the mansion. They won't even know what hit em. OR following them until they eat and put SuperLax in their drinks. Then they'll really be "pushing the crowd." hehe. just a few ideas. Either way, I'm sorry you had to experience a-holes like that.

foobs:earsboy:

We ran into the same situation on 4/9...Everyone was crowded in and herded like cattle pushing and shoving and no room to breath...I think it turned me off to the ride. Disney should really re-think how they load for this ride in order to keep everyone safe.

To ask how Disney is at "fault" as Sansaarai did is a word game and muddles the real question which is what is Disney's responsibility. For all the trips we have taken to WDW I have seen many rude people and CMs who just ignore it, like the previous unfortunate Pooh story from Allicat. I never knew there were security people who we can report to. Thanks for the info pintrader.
Disney's responsibility is to manage crowds and keep their guests from getting injured. Too often WDW takes the attitude that the crowds are all friendly and will manage themselves. That's how large groups are able to get away with this behavior.

We also had a lot of pushing at the HM queue this past January. We were still outside in the line and the CM working the line was "in character for the HM ride", but he was telling everyone to "push and shove their way through the line and to leave no dead space." I understand he was in character, but didn't really like the "push and shove" part because that is just what people were doing, mostly adults.
There are many other rides at Disney that have crazy queues, and many times I have to hang on to DH in order for us not to get seperated. We are just 2 adults without children to keep track of and we sometimes have troubles.

Yikes, that is terrible. Honestly sometimes I just look at people in WDW acting that way and want to ask them "Whats the rush, C'mon your on vacation people". Yesterday coming out of the Mexico pavilion going up the ramp, an extremly drunk lady who reeked of beer (smelt her long before I saw her) came hurdling down the ramp and knocked into DGoddaughter 3yrs old, knocked her over. She didn't even notice she just kept moving. I picked up DGoddaugher, DFiance wanted to knock some sense into the lady but I didn't want it to ruin our day. However now that I look back I wish I would have said something to a CM to keep someone else from getting hurt. Oh well.

I sure hope your DD's knee feels better, she needs some TLC. ::yes::
