Unexpected visit to DLRP

Can you help me please, we are going to WDW in Feb but have decided to make a very short visit to DLRP on our way to our home in France to cure my craving As well as DH & myself & DS x 2 we have a friends daughter staying with us so need accomodation for 5.

My options for our dates are :

1) Disneyland hotel : Would love it but cant afford it this trip

2) Hotel Cheyenne : would need to book 2 rooms here and that works out @ £954 for the 2 nights!

3) Davy Crockett Ranch we could have a 1 bed cabin for 2 nights which would be £698.

My head tells me to save the money and stay at DCR but my heart tells me to stay onsite. In the past we have stayed at Sequoia Lodge and Newport Bay Club (where we were given a free upgrade to the honeymoon suite, so been really spoiled ).

So my question is will I like DCR or will it be a let down after staying at the other hotels? My friends daughter is 14 and has never been to disney before so we want to make it a great experience for her but as it's a spur of the moment visit we do not have loads of money to spend on it!

We stayed at DCR at Christmas for 3 nights in a 1 bed cabin and at Easter for 1 night in a 2 bedroom. We really liked it but found the 2 bed cabins to be better- newer and slightly more space.
Not sure how old your DSs are but the main problem we found with DCR is that everyone has to go into the parks at the same time/leave at the same time whereas when we stayed at Cheyenne for a few days at easter as well with our DS he sometimes joined us later in the day.
Have you checked out Explorers as this does linked rooms so you could get a room for 4 with a linked cabin room for 2. This often works out the same price as Cheyenne but has a pool as well.

With the difference in price though and as its only for 2 nights I think Id go for DCR

Hi thanks for the answer. My DS are 9 & 6 so will be with us when we go to the parks. Tried to get Explorers but it's only available for our 1st night, that looked as if it would have been great fun.

We stayed in DCR in May, and you still get the disney experience but without the hassle of queing for the buses back to the hotels etc... the ranch is a much more relaxed way to do disney and there is so much to do there... plus you have the pool which stays open really late! so i would save the money for spending and stay at DCR!

I prefer the DCR. I find it's really nice to be part of the magic but to also be able to retreat away from it at the end of the day. I find that when we stay in hotels I get woken up by people outside the hotel or inside the hotel and I don't find it with DCR as they are individual chalets.

have u tried the other offsite hotels like Holiday inn and Dream castle i've always found the HI fairly reasonable

We have tried exploreres, holiday Inn & dreamcastle, they are all booked for the 2 nights we need! I think we are just going to go for it and book DCR, it's worth a try and we may end up loving it. Its only a place to sleep as we plan to be in the parks all day as we only have 3 days.

we love dcr!
it's like centerparcs but at dlp with characters.
the pool is the best, i think.
