I called last night to book our vacation package for the end of this month. I know....last minute. We were waiting for some heavenly deal to fall from the sky. Don't worry, airfare and ADR have been made for months :cool2:

So, I call to book Pop and they offered me POR for a little cheaper. Huh? Okay...We'll take it.

I hope I'm not stuck in one of the buildings far away from everything. I know I'm going to be walking in the park, but haulin' my cookies out to the bus stop in the morning is never fun.

Wish us a good vacation, will you?

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
NO sickness this time! Someone has gotten sick the last 2 times we've been. Including me on mother's day. We had ressies at CRT and I couldn't even eat my food.

That's great! Maybe you had a code attached to your household :)

Have a wonderful trip!!

(p.s. be sure to add a building request to the reservation, if that's important:)

Thanks dizneychik!

Thanks Minnie & Nana! I'll have to check out the map of the resort to put in a building request. The agent said she could give us a riverview room. I'm afraid it's one of the ones that are far away and that's why we got the deal...who knows?

All I know is that I've got 25 more days!

The kids and I made a count down calender this afternoon!

The nice thing about POR, imo, is that no matter how far we had to walk (we were in Acadia in 2005), the grounds are so beautiful, we never minded strolling along the river to get to the main building. Our first stay on Disney property was in '97 and we stayed at POR in Paterre Place. That seemed like a huge hike to me back then, but that was before I got used to the fact that most Disney resorts require lots of walking. POR is so pretty. I still miss the clippity-clop of the horses across the bridge - Oh, and waving to the people going by in the boat to DTD.
Enjoy your stay!

Yes...TM, it is a lovely place! As I've said before, we have never been the kind of family to laze around our resort. We are go-go-go all day every day! Don't ask me how we do it. But, I'm thinking maybe we might spend some time around POR. First visit there with kids. Maybe we'll go on a carriage ride?

I'm so excited!

POR is a 100 times more relaxing than POP. I was just looking at pictures of it tonight and it really is one of the prettiest resorts on property. I hope you have a great trip. You will love the quiet pools versus the crazy crowded pools at POP. what a great treat for you! :goodvibes

Well, before you take her up on her offer of a river view room - or if you already did - that's not exactly what the category is. It's water view, and it could mean the river, but it could mean a pool.

There are four bus stops in POR, so really, walking shouldn't be an issue - just board/debark at the bus stop closest to your room.

People rave over Alligator Bayou. Honestly, I think Oak Manor is very well-placed - there's a bridge to the main building just to the left of this one, and there's a bus stop on the back side. And it has elevators. All the Mansions, but none of the AB buildings, do.

Just curiuos. What is a little cheaper? I am staying at POFQ soon and have a AAA rate of 161$ a night?

Well, okay...Since you are curious:

This is what we requested in our package (for a family of 4):
7 nights at a resort
8 day park hopper
Dining Plan
Travel insurance (we always get for peace of mind)

With all that our quotes were:

Pop Century $2,751.42
Port Orleans R.S. $2,725.96

Is that with 4 adult prices or 2 adult, jr., child....?
Pretty fun having it so close!

whup...just saw your kids ages in your siggie....nvm!

That looks like a good deal. Ask for oak manor a beautiful building and view. Just accross from the main buildings by footbridge. Our Fav resort:thumbsup2

Good. I was worried that maybe there was some fabulous deal out there that I missed. If you know of one, please don't tell me now...:lmao:

Yeah...I've found a map of the property.

It looks as if buildings 14 & 15 wouldn't be so terrible either. Building 90 on the map is Oak Manor.

I do like to be close to the main buildings...I have kidlets that are pretty needy sometimes. It would be nice to be in close proximity to the general store. Milk, medicine....wine for momma...you know, the essentials.:rotfl:

Is there a cost associated with requesting a certain building? I thought it was something like an extra $10...?????

Nope. There's an extra charge for a water view room ($15 per night plus tax) or an extra charge for a king bed (also $15 per night plus tax). You can't pay for a king bed water view room - you can pay for one and request the other.
